DH likes Aria and I like Wren…

But we don’t particularly agree!
we like unusual names but not unheard of. He’s not keen on Wren which is fair enough. I like how Aria sounds but I’m concerned there will be a lot of correcting ‘Area’ or ‘Ar-eye-a ‘ etc

what else might we like?

we don’t know gender and agree we like Bodhi for a boy :)

Love Aria and Arwen

Agree with posters that Bodhi and Aria are getting super common and Wren is catching up! I don’t even live in the UK at the moment and among the few people I keep in touch with, I know babies with all of these names. (I actually know about 4 Arias and 2 Bodhis. Just one Wren.) Aria and Wren are nice but I think there are nicer, rarer names with a similar vibe that don’t have the same ‘trendy’ feel, if you’re wanting unusual? Cassia? Zélie? Hebe? Tansy?

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 03/07/2023 16:15

Or how about Elowen? Similar feel to Arwen.

I love Aria and wanted to call my dd that back in 2017 but DH wasn't keen. I know of 2 born in 2017/18 but no others since so I think there are probably a few 5 year old Arias but less babies now being called that. I also got it from Pretty Little Liars not GoT. I know an 7yo Wren and a 3yo Wren.

Do you like Arielle/Ariella? Arabella? Carla? Zara? Clara?

tonyhawks23 · 03/07/2023 16:23

Yes if you've not watched pretty little liars you should before you choose one if them it may change how you see the name?

A Bridie is a Scottish meat pie! Nice with beans for lunch, less nice as a name. (I am aware it is an actual name)

Well you learn something new every day! Perhaps not Bridie then 😂 I am a fan of Birdie however, but it’s one of those names I’d probably never be brave enough to use.

BodegaSushi · 03/07/2023 16:34

Do you both like Pretty Little Liars? 😂 2 characters had those names

As someone who works in a nursery, both these names are uncommon at the moment.

Dalekjastninerels · 03/07/2023 16:45

I like Aria.

Wren sounds like Ren (and Stimpy).

Aria & Wren are definitely becoming more common – Ariadne is a more traditional but unusual name that could be nicknamed Ari or even Aria which might suit?
Other names which have a similar vibe to me:
Aspen
Dawn
Erin
Alana

from Wren I also jump to nature names: Laurel? Fern?

So many lovely suggestions thank you 😊
I’m adding Nova and Hebe to the list
both my older daughters names have come up several times!

Rhea popped into my head as a mash-up of the 2.

Most people know Aria because of GoT so I wouldn’t worry about the pronunciation.

Iris? Ada?

Rhea sounds like diarRHEA.

ClaimQuestion · 03/07/2023 17:14

Rhea sounds like diarRHEA.

Unfortunately I know a teen called Rhea and this is her nickname (including with all of her family) - luckily she takes it in good humour but I wouldn't inflict it on a child!

Why would you call a child after a Body?! Because that's what it will be called, on the phone, in waiting rooms etc......

piesforever · 03/07/2023 18:20

Oh God, just read the Rhea one, just don't!!!!

wendyjoy · 03/07/2023 18:29

Wren is very popular lately ..I'm 64 and know three.
I also know two Bhodi's.
I thought l had the most unusual name nearly 40 years ago when l named my eldest Freyja ( silent J because we wanted the viking name and to be spelt correctly) now years later it's become so common.. obviously most spell it wrong and use Freya..
So whatever you chose be prepared for it to become popular at some point.

Both your names are beautiful.

Willow might be a good compromise between the two styles.
