DH likes Aria and I like Wren…

we like unusual names but not unheard of. He’s not keen on Wren which is fair enough. I like how Aria sounds but I’m concerned there will be a lot of correcting ‘Area’ or ‘Ar-eye-a ‘ etc

What about Lark? It’s popular, Lærke, in Denmark so as a name not entirely batty.

Aria is quite popular now and also I know three bodhis! I'd say that's a common 'alternative' name like when everyone didn't want a common boys name so went with beau, now it's bodhi! Do love the name though

We went with Eira in the end which is Welsh for snow and pronounced Ay-ra.

As for how common a name is, my daughter is in secondary school and has gone all the way through school not knowing any Olivia’s and that’s been number one for year, yet there is lots of duplicates of more uncommon names. Even my Eira, I had never met anyone with that name, she’s only 2 and we have so far met a toddler, a newborn and a teenager with the same name.

Id go for a name you love rather than focusing on popularity

I'd pronounce Aria like the musical term, but the two little Aryas I know both have a short "a" at the beginning. One was named after the elf in Eragon, I'm not sure about the other.

Wren I can’t quite get my head around, sounds very hippy to me. Not that that’s a bad thing just not my liking.

There is an Arwen in my DDs reception class, my first though was LOTRs but the name suits her.

There was a little girl running’s around tescos the other day called Willow, her dad was chasing her and calling her name, she was the first Willow I’d come across and liked it.

Ive always loved Tui, before the travel company took over. The Tui bird is my favourite bird and I once knew a litter girl called Tui who was an amazing little girl.

I'm a teacher and have a newborn so meeting plenty babies. Locally, Aria is popular but I've never known a baby or child called Wren. I have met a Whin. Pretty name not too dissimilar. One to consider 😃

Not a fan of Wren. I do like Aria and couldn’t imagine many people get the pronunciation wrong.

Bodhi and Aria, are definitely pretty popular! There is only one Wren in my daughters class though.

We have an Aria. People do get the pronunciation right pretty much always, it hasn’t been a problem. When she was a baby she was the only Aria we knew, but now days I know of several.

When I was younger (many years ago!) I knew an Arlenna which was shortened to Leni. Not heard of anyone else since.
Also knew a Tieneka which I always thought was a pretty name, think it might be Danish?

These are fairly popular names now - I’d think most people know how to say them :)

I love Wren, my childhood nickname was Jenni wren (hence my username!) so I have a soft spot for it.
My youngest is called Ayla, it’s such a lovely name and still uncommon.
I love the name Ember too.
