Hi, I’m registering my baby girl this week and I’m really stuck on names. I think sleep deprivation snd anxiety is messing with me abit to be completely honest!

Would love some opinions and advice on my options? These are:

Mabel
Phoebe
Rose/Rosie

I did like Maeve, Mila and Hattie too but they’ve been taken away from the decision.

Any names similar would be considered too!

I am leaning more to Mabel or Phoebe to be honest. I’ve had a really mixed reaction to Mabel for some reason.

Thank you in advance! I’m in complete panic mode. I have a couple days to decide…

Phoebe is lovely, really don't like Mabel, but I don't like old lady names. Rosie is cute.

Mabel was on my shortlist too, and I also had a lot of mixed reactions. Some saying it was classic, and beautiful, others saying my baby would get bullied cause its a "nana" name 🙄
I love Mabel, it's adorable. Out of those I would go with that.

A lot of people on here will not like Rose. It's become too popular, especially with middle names.

You should write some names down on a piece of paper and put them in a hat, then draw them out. You tend to learn your true feelings in situations like that. If you pull Mabel out and you're slightly disappointed, not the baby's name. Same goes if you pull Rose out and are over the moon!

I don't know what you'd consider similar, but I really like Harper

My daughter is Phoebe and I still (she's almost 6) absolutely adore her name. When she was little people would often comment on what a lovely name it is and she's never had another Phoebe at Preschool or now at school.
She's not keen on Pheebs as a nickname but likes Bebe, which is cute and what my 1 year old calls her.

When I named my children I thought of their names in a few scenarios. 1) as a baby 2) being called out in school / playground at various ages 3) being called out in a park (whether to get their attention or being naughty) 4) on a job application 5) as an adult / older person. Just see if it would suit in all scenarios as your not just naming a little baby but also an adult if that makes sense

They are all lovely names OP, but please, do choose what you like and don't be influenced by other people, it's nothing to do with them!

Love Mabel.
Phoebe is a bit too popular for me.
I like Rose but Rosie is a bit cutesy for me on its own, though I do like it as a nickname for Rose, Rosemary, Rosalie, Rosalind/line/lyn.

Mabel is a lovely name and could be shortened to May or Belle. Found this:

Mabel is a baby girl name of Latin origin. Derived from the names Amabilis and Amabel, Mabel means “lovable”

Jack used to be seen as an old man's name at one time. Once a name is used again frequently it no longer is seen in that way. Be the trend setter!

I know a Mabel (age 2) she is adorable. Phoebe is lovely and Rosie is cute too. Not keen on Rose. I wouldn't ask advice, it's a joint decision between you and baby's father. My son has a great name but when I suggested it family weren't keen, we went with it anyway.

Phoebe is the best of your names.

I really don't like Mabel.

I love Rose, Rosie is quite popular whereas Rose I’d say is less used at the moment. A beautiful and elegant name.

Phoebe is nice but quite popular at the moment, there are 3 Phoebe’s in one of our baby classes, 2 in another!

Mabel is definitely making a comeback, but personally I’m not keen and still picture an 80 year old.

Like all the names but Phoebe is my favourite

If you are registering her this week I would choose from your top 3 names as you want really have time to assess how you feel about any new additions to the list

I feel you OP, we ended up getting a midwife to decide from our shortlist 😂

I like Mabel too and I don’t think it’s old-fashioned at all, it might have been seen as such at one point but these names have been back for years.

As you like classic names-

Faye
Sadie
Roslyn/Roslin/Rosalind (or some other less popular version of Rose)

Phoebe means bright
Mabel means loveable

mabel could be shortened to May? Not sure what you’d shorten Phoebe to? Fee?

what will the initials turn out like for each?

I’ve not registered my girl yet and the name we’re currently using feels… not right … but I think it’s too late as everyone is using it now!!

good luck with your decision.

Of those three I'd hands-down go for Mabel; I much prefer it to the other options.
