Registering baby and have no name 🫤

Hi, I’m registering my baby girl this week and I’m really stuck on names. I think sleep deprivation snd anxiety is messing with me abit to be completely honest!

Would love some opinions and advice on my options? These are:

Mabel
Phoebe
Rose/Rosie

I did like Maeve, Mila and Hattie too but they’ve been taken away from the decision.

Any names similar would be considered too!

I am leaning more to Mabel or Phoebe to be honest. I’ve had a really mixed reaction to Mabel for some reason.

Thank you in advance! I’m in complete panic mode. I have a couple days to decide…

I really like Doris and Maud, and know a lovely Mabel, but I can't not see Mabel as someone in her 90s

Associations with names come from people we have known/ heard of with that name hence 'old lady' names, 'stripper' names etc. Once people start calling their babies with those names we form new associations.

It's not a surprise that names that have been around for centuries may be associated to some extent with old people. It's that they were out of favour for a while that we don't also associate them with young people but this changes as they are used more frequently.

I love Phoebe and Mabel.
I don't think Mabel is any more ' old lady' than Phoebe, but I had a great-Grandmother called Phoebe.
Others you may like:
Marnie
Connie
Martha
Cara, Cora, Kiera
June
Jennifer (Jenny)

I don't like Phoebe, I think Mabel is quite sweet but I do think of cats. Rose is lovely but I'm not keen on Rosie.

What about-

Laurel
Allegra
Penelope
Iris
Livi
Tabitha
Celeste
Isobel
Jemima

I know a baby Phoebe, a baby Rosie (more than one actually) and a child Mabel. If probably go with Phoebe or Mabel tbh.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 18/03/2023 19:52

Not keen on Mabel. But the Welsh name Mabli means loveable. Mabli Rose goes nicely.

DisforDarkChocolate · 18/03/2023 19:55

Have you considered Hester?

Sadiegirl87 · 18/03/2023 19:56

I'm in the same boat but have settled on Lucy, I also had Phoebe and Rose on my list.
I would go for Phoebe out of those two.
If you like Rosie I'd still go for Rose and give her the nn Rosie.
Hopefully you come to a decision soon

Love Mabel

LulooLemon · 18/03/2023 20:15

Rose is lovely. Suits all ages.

Likeagibbon · 18/03/2023 20:24

Love Rose/Rosie. I know a young girl with the name Rosie-Rouge, and despite not usually liking hyphenated names, I think it is quite a cute and unusual name, but not too crazy, and can still be shortened to Rose or Rosie! Good luck in your name choice!

DramaAlpaca · 18/03/2023 20:36

Use all three names:

Mabel Phoebe Rose
Phoebe Mabel Rose

I prefer Mabel to Phoebe, and I love Rose.

Write a few different cards and practice signing off with all of your names including options for new baby .. does one look/feel right??

KirstenBlest · 18/03/2023 21:08

Try saying the name and surname together
like Mabel Win (use actual surname not Win)
Phoebe Win
Rose Win
Rosie Win.

One should click as the right one.

Marymary987 · 18/03/2023 21:34

How about Rosa? I really like Phoebe too but it’s quite popular.

PMAmostofthetime · 18/03/2023 22:25
