Registering baby and have no name 🫤

Hi, I’m registering my baby girl this week and I’m really stuck on names. I think sleep deprivation snd anxiety is messing with me abit to be completely honest!

Would love some opinions and advice on my options? These are:

Mabel
Phoebe
Rose/Rosie

I did like Maeve, Mila and Hattie too but they’ve been taken away from the decision.

Any names similar would be considered too!

I am leaning more to Mabel or Phoebe to be honest. I’ve had a really mixed reaction to Mabel for some reason.

Thank you in advance! I’m in complete panic mode. I have a couple days to decide…

Have you tried out the names on your dd? Does one suit her more than the others?

They are all perfectly lovely names for a little girl.

Lovelyring · 18/03/2023 11:16

You'll never find a name everyone likes. It's also not their child. If you like Mabel use Mabel. It's quite popular these days, nr 58th in 2021 and more common than Rose as a first name, so a perfectly reasonable choice.

If wanting other ideas, I thought of Mirabel, Daphne and Audra.

I couldn't decide either and agonised between the name I liked the most, and a family name I felt would make my family happier. I decided outside the registry office! Went with the one I like the most and don't regret it.

All of those names are lovely. You could use all if you wanted and have 2 middle names.

You could make Rose into Rosalind/Rosa/Rosalie if you wanted an alternative but I think Phoebe Mabel Surname is my pick.

SunsetBlue · 18/03/2023 12:33

It's your child OP, don't worry about the reactions of others. Your baby will suit their name.

Having said that, I do think all your names are lovely.

sunmonlight · 18/03/2023 12:44

I love Mabel

MayMiracle · 18/03/2023 13:21

Margot?

Theoldwoman · 18/03/2023 13:23

I love Rose and Phoebe.

Congratulations, I’m sure whatever you choose will be the perfect name.

ladygindiva · 18/03/2023 13:24

Rose is beautiful. And won't date.

MayMiracle · 18/03/2023 13:24

I agree Rose is beautiful

ringofrosies · 18/03/2023 13:33

Not keen on Mabel, I know of three dogs and a cat with this name so that’s probably why

Fashiontatts · 18/03/2023 13:38

My daughter is Phoebe and I still (she's almost 6) absolutely adore her name. When she was little people would often comment on what a lovely name it is and she's never had another Phoebe at Preschool or now at school.
She's not keen on Pheebs as a nickname but likes Bebe, which is cute and what my 1 year old calls her.

I also have a Phoebe (3) and her 1yo brother calls her Bebe, which she loves!

Velvetbee · 18/03/2023 13:38

Phoebe or Rose

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 18/03/2023 13:40

@Fashiontatts @Pebbleinthesand we also have a Phoebe who is called Bebe 😁

tobi21 · 18/03/2023 13:43

I think Mabel is lovely

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/03/2023 13:55

Oooh I can see why you’re stuck. I love all of your top three choices, and also Maeve! I can’t choose between Mabel and Phoebe for my favourite.

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 18/03/2023 13:40

@Fashiontatts @Pebbleinthesand we also have a Phoebe who is called Bebe 😁

A nice alternative to Pheebs! 🤍 there's clearly lots of Phoebe's but we're yet to meet another in person

Maryandherlamb · 18/03/2023 14:07

I love Rosie. I'm not a fan of Rose; I think it's a bit overdone especially as a middle name, but Rosie is lovely.

Twazique · 18/03/2023 14:35

Rosamund (nn Rose/Rosie) Mable Surname (love Rosamund Pike!)
Rosalind (nn Rose/Rosie) Dorothea Surname
Rosemary (nn Rose/Rosie) Eloise Surname

Twazique · 18/03/2023 14:36

Alternatives: Maude Beatrix Theodora Althea

Leggingslife · 18/03/2023 14:37

Phoebe Rose sounds nice together.

ourflagmeansdeath · 18/03/2023 14:48

Love love Mabel, it's an absolutely beautiful name, would defo be my choice. Phoebe is quite nice too, I'd say. Rose and Rosie are lovely too though, I quite like them as first names and not middle names.

My vote is definitely for Mabel but all 3 names are really pretty in my opinion so you can't choose wrong! See what fits best on your baby girl

GladysGeorgina · 18/03/2023 14:54

Mabel without a doubt

anunlikelyseahorse · 18/03/2023 14:59

You can simply register your baby as 'baby'. There is a small admin charge for adding the name later iirc. Our dc wasn't named till 12 weeks...
Congrats on your new born.

KirstenBlest · 18/03/2023 15:19

Mabel - I don't like it, seems frumpy
Phoebe - like it
Rose/Rosie - would use Rose on BC but prefer Rosie.

Could I throw Kate/Katie in?

Opened thread to suggest Clint, and not RTFT.
CONGRATULATIONS on baby Clintona

hadenoughforever · 18/03/2023 15:28

I like Rose or Rosie from your list.
Don’t like Mabel at all; I’m of an age that I remember the Mabel Lucy Atwell books and to me it was a name that was of my Grandma’s era (Sorry Grandma, loved you didn’t like the name Doris and your friends names Mabel and Maude).

Hope everything goes well!
