Registering baby and have no name 🫤

Hi, I’m registering my baby girl this week and I’m really stuck on names. I think sleep deprivation snd anxiety is messing with me abit to be completely honest!

Would love some opinions and advice on my options? These are:

Mabel
Phoebe
Rose/Rosie

I did like Maeve, Mila and Hattie too but they’ve been taken away from the decision.

Any names similar would be considered too!

I am leaning more to Mabel or Phoebe to be honest. I’ve had a really mixed reaction to Mabel for some reason.

Thank you in advance! I’m in complete panic mode. I have a couple days to decide…

Phoebe Rose is lovely.

Bigpinktrain · 18/03/2023 06:43

I LOVE Mabel, Phoebe is also solid, not too sure about Rosie/Rose, much prefer Rosalie.

PurBal · 18/03/2023 06:44

Mabel is lovely

Katela18 · 18/03/2023 06:58

Of your options it would be Phoebe for me.

I have a Clodagh

CherryMaple · 18/03/2023 07:01

I love Rose. I have 3 DCs, and have never met a child who has Rose as her first name. It’s a bit irrelevant that people use it as a middle name. I think it’s beautiful, and would be unusual (here in the NW at least) as a first name.

Thoughtful2355 · 18/03/2023 07:05

Mabel sounds like either a old woman or a cat.
Pheobe i dont really like unless talking about the friends characters.
I dont like rosie or rose as its so common, especially as a middle name BUT its my fave out of the lot

toastofthetown · 18/03/2023 07:06

Mabel is my favourite from your list. Would like Rosalie as a longer form of Rose. Personally I find Phoebe insipid sounding and it’s been done to death.

smellyflowers · 18/03/2023 07:08

Mabel all the way

The best names are ones where some people love them and some aren't keen. They are memorable and not overly used.

Not Phoebe

WingBingo · 18/03/2023 07:10

Mabel is an awesome name!

cowsaysmoo · 18/03/2023 07:11

Another vote for Phoebe.

TheMotherSide · 18/03/2023 07:14

I love Mabel.
I'm not trying to be facetious, but could you register her with all three names? Then choose once the anxiety around making the definitive selection has passed?
They're all lovely, and are all expressions of you wanting to find your daughter the loveliest possible name. And they sound fine together. They'll have to be presented in some kind of order, but it's not the end of the world to end up using a middle name as a 'first name'; my boss and I are both known by what is technically our middle names and it's fine.
Good luck, OP.

Mabelle is beautiful

greeneyessparksfly · 18/03/2023 07:25

They’re all pretty!! My favourite is Rose/Rosie - my shortlisted name if we had a girl was Rosalia, different to the other variations but I love it! Agree with pp, go with what you love the most!

GabrielAgreste · 18/03/2023 07:27

I like all your name choices, I’d go for Rose as top from that selection.

I had boys but as the owner of an -ie name with a more formal long name I swore I’d never give a daughter an -ie name as a main name. It really does soften people’s perception of you - not always in a good way!

If you call her Rose she call always have the nn Rosie.

Greenmoonset · 18/03/2023 07:58

I think they’re all lovely, you just need to follow your gut here. Try spending a day using each name and see which feels right.
Mabel you may get comments that it’s an old lady name, but it’s in the top 100 now so is definitely back ‘in’.
Rosie is pretty but fairly popular at the moment as a first name and Rose a very popular middle name, if that’s an issue for you.
Phoebe is my personal favorite, I love the meaning and she could be Bea or Bebe which are cute nicknames. People can struggle to spell it though!
But really you can’t go wrong with any, so I’d try and ignore what everyone else thinks and go with what feels right!

Soggydog · 18/03/2023 08:04

I love Mabel. If you are anxious about people's responses to it please don't worry as they will soon associate it with your little girl and how she is as opposed to their preconceived Ideas. I also love Phoebe but know quite a lot round here. You could consider Maple which sounds like Mabel.

Mumofgirls2017 · 18/03/2023 08:31

Mabel!

HeadacheEarthquake · 18/03/2023 08:38

Phoebe is lovely.

What about May instead of Mabel or Rosa as a more interesting Rose

Screwedupworld · 18/03/2023 08:53

Love Phoebe what about Mabel as a middle name x

WhisperingAutistic · 18/03/2023 08:57

Mabel Rose
I adore Mabel, it's lovely

Needmorelego · 18/03/2023 08:58

I know a Phoebe and I have to check which way round the O and the E go every single time (including typing this). Expect a lifetime of it being misspelled. I have a name that has two ways of spelling it and I have had that all my life. It's annoying.
Mabel is lovely and if you used Rose as middle name I think Mabel Rose sounds like a fine timeless beautiful name.

MissBPotter · 18/03/2023 09:00

Honestly all three are lovely names, although I much prefer Rose over Rosie as a first name as I dislike nicknames as first names. Which do you prefer? Go with that!

I also think Rose is totally nice as a middle name although it’s not exactly unusual. Phoebe Rose and Mabel Rose are lovely.

barca123 · 18/03/2023 09:06

Honestly they are all lovely! People will have strong opinions on here but trust your instincts because you can’t go wrong with these three :)

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 18/03/2023 09:08

I'd go for Rose. We have a little Rosie though so might be biased!

Twoinapod · 18/03/2023 11:00

Phoebe is nice, love Rose/Rosie. Really dislike Mabel
