I know a dog called Keith and they've just got another pup and called it Nigel

There is a theory that the generation before names get revived, they become comedy pet names. I think it’s probably true, and Keith will probably be revived in 15 years or so. I still think best to leave it be till then.

Oh some of you are so mean! 😀

OP, my grandpa was William Keith, my Dad is Graham Keith and my son is Declan Keith.

Go forth I say!

I think this says it all. If you have to use it, hide it fgs as a middle name

Brendabigbaps · 18/12/2022 10:24

Great name for a dog, not a child unless he’s going to be Keith moon reincarnated

Whatdayisitalexa · 18/12/2022 10:26

I'm in the Keith fanclub. As others have said it has a nice sound. If you wipe your mind of connotations of older people...it sounds like a cute kids name

tennant340 · 18/12/2022 10:26

On trend have you heard yourselves

Have you ever seen "nuts in may" ?

Yes 😅 However, I still like Keith.

At least the question "isn't "Candice-Marie for a girl?

Who are these people who give these kind of names to their dogs though? I knew a dog called Malcolm. Perfectly lovely friends called their dog Malcolm. I could not get my head round it at all, just made me laugh.

OP - no. Is Op coming back though? Might not have got the response she was hoping for...

Picklewicklepickle · 18/12/2022 10:37

Good god no, some names are not ready for a revival, it should stay in the cupboard with Kirk, Nigel, Graham, Terry and Martin.

lunar1 · 18/12/2022 10:45

I like Keith.

rubydoobydoo · 18/12/2022 10:58

I've only ever known cool Keiths and Nigels.

5moments · 18/12/2022 11:00

Little baby Keith.

ChristmasSparkleTastic · 18/12/2022 11:32

@SilentHedges I prefer Candice to Keith! 🤣

RambamThankyouMam · 18/12/2022 11:32

Stripped of its cultural baggage, Keith is actually a decent name. I like it! Likewise Clive. It's no better or worse than modern names like Koa and Klay, which will probably sound awful to our grandchildren.

Purplemagnolias · 18/12/2022 12:01

Keith is actually a refreshing and great choice after the overuse of cutesy names like Teddie, Alfie, Cutie type names!

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 18/12/2022 13:21

...No

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/12/2022 15:39

Have you ever seen "nuts in may" ?

I've seen it 72 times!

Keith is a beautiful name, I think it means ‘of the forest’ or something. I wanted to call my child Keith but got vetoed.

F the haterz

formulatingAresponse · 18/12/2022 15:42

No

ShoveAHollySprigUpYourBum · 18/12/2022 15:44

I've never met a Keith who wasn't a twat.

Spanielsarepainless · 18/12/2022 15:45

I love it. It's strong and will suit him as an adult as well as a child.

girljulian · 18/12/2022 15:47

I like Keith! Makes me think of Keith Richards who I also like.

imaditto · 18/12/2022 15:48

Oh god no!

Dustyblue · 19/12/2022 05:28

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/12/2022 10:12

It’s a hard no from me, but there’s no accounting for taste.

Keef. It’s wrong, and sounds like Beef

I'm amazed at the number of people who can't (or think other people can't) pronounce "TH".

Do that many people say Fink instead of Think, Frilled instead of Thrilled etc?

Many it's a dialect/regional thing?

Dustyblue · 19/12/2022 05:28

*maybe not many!

GingerPigz · 19/12/2022 05:45

Not a fan personally... if it's the general sound of the name you like what about Leith as an alternative?
