Keith is shocking.
Like Colin, Kevin and Gary.

Mouthfulofquiz · 18/12/2022 07:09

I know a little Keith - I think it’s lovely actually. Has a nice sound.

YES to Keith!

If you want an utterly original sound solid name, that no other kid will have, it needs to be old school ... Chris, John, Graham etc. There are millions of Jack's and Olivers and names like Storm, Zeus, River etc are trying so hard to be original, that they're anything but.

I'd have full respect for the parents of a "Keith".

Hear hear!

all the ones I’ve known are utterly top blokes. Go for it. I’d love to meet a baby Keith Smile

I love how you're in the baby names section, the title says 'Keith' in it and you still felt the need to clarify for a boy. 😂

Well these days you never know.

I know a dog called Keith and they've just got another pup and called it Nigel

justcouldntthinkofausername · 18/12/2022 07:52

Please don't do that to the poor child

TidyDancer · 18/12/2022 07:52

My friend has a dog called Alan. That's the trifecta of bloke dog names now!

KylieCharlene · 18/12/2022 07:58

My first thought was to scoff- how awful it would be to call a baby Keith!
Then I realized it actually has a really nice sound.
I still not be able to do it but that would be down to it's regard in our society.

HelloBunny · 18/12/2022 07:59

I don’t like the harsh th sound. Same with Ruth. Where I live, some people don’t even make the th sound. It’s Keet or Root. That’s worse!

LynetteScavo · 18/12/2022 08:03

Well, it's better for a boy than a girl.

Keith really isn't that bad a name!

I went to school with a very "sensitive" Keith. He wasn't very bright or sporty, but was always kind. He's the only Keith I've ever known, so that's what I think of when I hear Keith. To me it's a very soft name.

Ricco12 · 18/12/2022 08:10

Yes yes yes much nicer than some of the awful names you get nowadays

David
Robert
William
Keith
Mark
Micheal
Lee
James

All good proper names.

Piggywaspushed · 18/12/2022 08:16

My dad is called Keith . He is 80 and has had an entire lifetime hating his name, especially when Spitting Image mocked it.

For a while, it was the name of every single pilot who wasn't called Graham.

It's a solid name but bear in mind the i before e rule has stuck in everyone's heads so he will have to keep spelling it to people too.

Keith and Kenneth were always quite popular in Scotland, along with Gordon and Graeme/Graham and stuck around right up to the early 90s as baby names.

miltonj · 18/12/2022 08:18

What about kiefer instead?

dancingqueen123 · 18/12/2022 08:25

No!

dancingqueen123 · 18/12/2022 08:26

Have you ever seen "nuts in may" ?

dancingqueen123 · 18/12/2022 08:28

miltonj · 18/12/2022 08:18

Keef for short?!!🤣

AllOfThemWitches · 18/12/2022 08:28

Hahahaha

ODFOx · 18/12/2022 08:29

I like it.
It's obvious to pronounce and will be really unusual among his peers.

AllOfThemWitches · 18/12/2022 08:31

Although it does actually have a nice sound. I wonder why we dislike it so much.

thismeansnothing · 18/12/2022 08:36

Love it. It was my late dad's name. He would be in his 60s now

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 18/12/2022 08:47

You could go for Richard as a middle name. Just as a reminder in case anyone tries to suggest that Keith is an uncool name.

PeaceJoySleep · 18/12/2022 09:48

Yes it does have a nice sound. That's why it was so over used in the 70s

musicandpassion · 18/12/2022 10:04

I do know a teenage Keith. It's a bit jarring for a baby though, i think. Similar to baby Mark.
Also, this...

It’s a hard no from me, but there’s no accounting for taste.

Keef. It’s wrong, and sounds like Beef
