What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@shedwithivy my first thought was The Lorax so I now have all the songs running through my head. I don't mind because I really love that film.
@CucumberCool If I had just heard the name and never seen it written down I wouldn't know how to spell it either. To be honest it's one I would probably have to double check before writing it in a birthday card or something.
It's a pretty intense name for a baby.

Don’t be so daft, your child is a person having to endure the name. Get a cuddly toy if you want to give something a stupid name.

LisbonKid · 18/10/2022 21:08

You, madam, are a Fuckwit!

Benjispruce4 · 18/10/2022 21:15

Apparently you can name a child River or Storm but a beautiful, classic name like Aloysius is crazy!

Needmorelego · 18/10/2022 21:18

@LisbonKid don't be rude. Do you know how to spell every single name you ever hear correctly?
I doubt it.

MsFogi · 18/10/2022 21:19

All the (old) men I know who are called this are called Alo for short.

How about Spodo Komodo instead? Or Hiroshima Twinkie? Peewee Stairmaster?

Needmorelego · 18/10/2022 21:46

@LisbonKid you didn't check how to highlight another person's quote before posting though did you 😂
Some people on this thread really are being bitchy cows tonight. Ignore them @CucumberCool .

I encountered an Aloysius in a book I read as a child (no idea what it was) and spent the entire book pronouncing it 'ALLOY-see-us' in my head.

Yes, same. Was it Mark Twain? It makes me think of Mark Twain for some reason, which is odd as I only half heartedly read his books at school so I'm surprised I remember anything about them at all!
