What do you think?

It's certainly true that people will queue up to tell you that you are wrong and stupid!

Well screw you, mean girls. I will name my imaginary child Alowicious and HER imaginary teachers will all tell HER what a lovely name it is. I will also sew it into all her imaginary school clothes. ✌

@Fink

It's a Latin name, not English. The feminine form is Aloysia

It's the Latin form of Louis, Luigi, Luis, and Ludwig.

Boudica66 · 18/10/2022 15:50

HER?!

oh dear lord 🤣🤣

Choconut · 18/10/2022 15:50

It sounds really pretentious to me and looks like the name of a dinosaur written down. I just think it's awful - and poor child trying to learn to spell a name like that!

Boudica66 · 18/10/2022 15:54

Mind you can't be any worse than ShyAnne (yes someone has that name) I don't think they could spell Cheyenne

Benjispruce4 · 18/10/2022 16:11

OP get thread title changed to correct spelling. Some can’t see past it. 🙄

Fink · 18/10/2022 16:26

@mathanxiety yes, sorry, I didn't explain myself well. I know it's a Latin name, I meant I don't get how the romance languages managed to develop various pretty-sounding forms and we got stuck with Aloysius (and Lewis).

If you can't spell it, don't saddle your child with it.

This.

You’ve basically done what every other person will do for the rest of your child’s life if you call him this.

KingOfWishfulThinkin · 18/10/2022 19:34

'Oh look it's Aloysius O'hareeeeeee' 🎶

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2022 19:36

Guess what was on R4 in the 6:30 comedy slot tonight? (An episode which hasn't aged too well, I fear)

Beachsidesunset · 18/10/2022 03:56

This!! LMAO so funny!!!!

chaotical · 18/10/2022 21:03

Aloysius is a real name - albeit one that brings to mind an Irish gentleman who's about ninety years old or a priest.

Alowicious just looks made-up and bizarre.
