Boys named Zeus and Titan

My SIL has called her 2nd son Titan. So that is Zeus and Titan, I’m feeling really sorry for the kids. Am I overreacting?

No, you're not - they'll have the piss taken out of them so badly. However, it's her choice.

Honeywaffles1 · 02/10/2022 21:44

For context they live in England

They sound awesome. My son is also named after a mythological god ⛈️ I doubt she cares for your opinion

LaLaLouella · 02/10/2022 21:53

I'm assuming they are cats - no one would actually name their children that surely....

SouthOfFrance · 02/10/2022 21:56

If this is real why are you posting such an identifiable thread naming your family members?

TabithaTittlemouse · 02/10/2022 21:57

What are your dc names?

Tootels · 02/10/2022 21:58

I know a few Zeus' all Huskies and a few Tyson's all Staffies. I've been told my kids names are also dog names though.

Tootels · 02/10/2022 21:58

Titan**

Tootels · 02/10/2022 21:59

Oh I thought they were your kids names. Must read whole posts!!

toastofthetown · 02/10/2022 22:00

Have you told your sister in law you've started a thread criticising her children's names?

This is exactly the point. If you don't care about what other people think, your children may be subjected to a lifetime of unnecessary judgement/jokes.

That's just silly. My kids are named after real Gods.

Cheeselog · 02/10/2022 22:02

Oh no that’s awful. Can you imagine if Titan gets overweight? Poor poor kids

Do you mean like the unnecessary judgement you're inviting on this thread...

They can't be the only Zeus and Titan around, can they? And the chances of her looking up her children on Mumsnet are slim.

I just feel like there's a lot to live up to, which is fine if they end up being rockstars and artists... And, yes, incredible dog names for a pair of French bulldogs or something.

I didn’t even think of this 😂😂😂😂 or if Zeus ends up a 5’3 little scrawny man working in admin.

Could you nickname them? Tan and Z?

Yes. I quite like “Ty and Zee” come to think of it. Good shout.

If you think the names are so usual that this isn't identifying, why are you feeling sorry for the children. They'll just blend right in surely?

And it's not just her looking it up. She might see the thread in Active if she's on MN like I did. Her other family or friends could mention it to her. Someone could say to her mother "Susan, wasn't your new grandson called Titan?" and it gets back to her that way.

There are probably loads but the others are all Staffies.

We’re not very close knit, probably see each other once a year or so.

Grandparents all live abroad, so does her family. so we’re not on each others doorsteps.

I'd go with an XL bully, which is a much more popular dog breed in this area.

It'll be pretty cool if they turn out to be a boxer and a bodybuilder.

It’s very possible someone she knows will see it so I think taking it down might be a good idea.

Have you really got nothing better to do than bitch about your SIL? If so I think you have bigger problems than Zeus and Titan.

allboysherebutme · 02/10/2022 22:20

Awful names. X

mummabubs · 02/10/2022 22:20

I'm curious that all of the 'blame' for the kids' names is falling on your sister in law... Surely their father is equally as involved/responsible?
