Boys named Zeus and Titan

My SIL has called her 2nd son Titan. So that is Zeus and Titan, I’m feeling really sorry for the kids. Am I overreacting?

Those sound like really good dog names to me.

Tromboleese · 03/10/2022 02:24

Oh dear. I know a family with a Zeus, mum was pregnant last time I saw her, not sure if this could be her as she said she was going for another similar name. Zeus gets called Z and it totally suits him.

Strokethefurrywall · 03/10/2022 03:07

Is your name "Judge"?

If so, I can't imagine why you'd post something like this about a family member.

Titus and Zeus? So nicknamed Ty and Zee. Hardly the most out there names, but absolutely if you live in a massively uptight part of the UK.

Unclench that arsehole OP. Not your kids. You have no business weighing in on their names.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 03/10/2022 03:41

So, there's already one person on here who thinks she knows your SIL.

Its really likely your SIL will get to know about this thread.

wellhelloitsme · 03/10/2022 05:09

And more once the Daily Mail picks this up...

Tootels · 03/10/2022 06:25

Don't worry I don't think this is real.

LynetteScavo · 03/10/2022 06:58

Well, I think they're cool names. They wouldn't be my choice, but they're not awful names, even together.

Me too and I love your username :)

I’d love for OP to tell her her kids names.

SplashingMermaidSparkleTail · 03/10/2022 08:26

I have many friends who have called their kids unusual names...

Goldie
Dusty
Iggy
Bambi
Tuesday
Bowie
India
Juno
Red
Fidelis

They have all just "become" their names. And people simply get used to it. It will honestly be fine op. Don't worry. Get over it.

LuciaPopp · 03/10/2022 08:30

Your SIL will definitely hear about this thread.

Not my taste but remember that at school sibling names don’t really matter much. It’s just one kid called Zeus and one kid called Titan. And other children won’t realise that it’s more unusual to be called Zeus than Diana, say- I went to school with a kid whose surname was Phone, never crossed my mind to think it was unusual until I was about 30.

LividLaVidaLoca · 03/10/2022 08:37

Tbh it’s still better than more bloody Olivers and Amelias.

Lilacsunflowers · 03/10/2022 08:37

Well, I think they're cool names.

I agree.

What's not cool is you posting them online and bitching about them.

Op, what are your kids called?

HairyMothballs · 03/10/2022 08:37

They're ridiculous names. If I heard someone talking about them, I'd assume they were talking about Pitbulls

DismantledKing · 03/10/2022 08:52

So many daft names on these threads.
I blame posh people.

Yes back in the 80s maybe. These dogs are banned!

Kids nowadays DG a F about names and they're used to all sorts. My teen son has a Neo in his class. Other teen has a friend called Blade (very unfortunate name for a boy in S London imo) but they literally take the names at face value and don't care. These two will be fine.

ChagSameachDoreen · 03/10/2022 09:43

A name with "tit" in it is a recipe for disaster.

I bet Blade is proper hard.

The problem is that they are such “big” names to live up to. If Titan turns out to be a skinny teen with acne, it’s a dreadful name. (My friend knew a lovely, but very timid, little girl who’d been named Boudicca. You can’t help but be struck by the contrast in a way that wouldn’t happen if her name had been Sarah.)

Sonnex · 03/10/2022 09:54

He's a normal 17 year old boy, goes to a private school, doing his A levels, not in the slightest bit hard. I find his name ridiculous but his fellow 17y olds don't bat an eyelid is my point and I had to point out the connotation of his name to my son.

Oh no that’s awful. Can you imagine if Titan gets overweight? Poor poor kids
I didn’t even think of this 😂😂😂😂 or if Zeus ends up a 5’3 little scrawny man working in admin“

always felt very sorry for Lord Adonis. I’m sure he’s a lovely man but Adonis is a lot to live up to 😁 at least it’s just his surname.

Yes, I believe you'll get over it individually, but I believe most people would snigger if you did it together.

Regardless of what anybody thinks, names matter and influence opinions of the sort of child/adult you’ll be expecting.

"Amelia and Oliver are on their way!" Gives a different impression than "Zeus and Titan," which should be like a pair of boisterous dogs.

Not discussing my children's names because it would make it very clear who we are, but their names have been in existence since practically forever.

I believe you're setting extremely high expectations for your children to be loud, fill the room with their personality, and be incredibly confident, and if they turn out to be shy and not very outgoing, it'll just be something they won't be able to pull off very well.

It's not a given that they'll be footballers or rappers; the poor thing might just want to be an accountant, doctor, or peaceful intellectual.

Someone named their child “Lord Adonis” 😂

that is far too much. Imagine if he was the total opposite. He would be the butt of jokes haha

No, his surname is Adonis. A politician, he became a Lord a few years ago, now Lord Adonis.

I saw a very funny post from him on Twitter a few years ago. Someone had nominated him for the “most inappropriately named person” competition. He retweeted it and said “Fair enough, I do agree. But I do think James Cleverly runs me close…..” 🤣🤣
