What do you think of this name for a baby girl?
Names also on my list are Milencia and Astoria.

They're all quite unique names and all end in an "ia" sound which I love. If anyone has any similar suggestions please let me know.

It's really not a good name

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 14:14

@StillHappy My boyfriend and his family prefer more traditional names like Elizabeth, Charlotte, etc. I don't like those kind of names so will be picking a name of my choice.

@Johnnysgirl Except Caledonia is an already established Latin/Roman name...

I think it’s lovely, she can try to get free travel on the Caledonian Sleeper

Surely he will have a say in it though? Seems fair to each have the power of veto as both of you are her parents

Inthesameboatatmo · 07/08/2022 14:17

Your boyfriend and his family have more common sense and are probably mortified by the fact you want to call your child a name that wouldn't be unheard of in an episode of shameless. I can see you now pushing the pram down the street with a roll up hanging out of your mouth and a primark fake gucci knock off changing bag . Poor child .

That says it all.
Name your little dolly whatever you please, but don't expect people not to judge you harshly. They will.

Twizbe · 07/08/2022 14:21

Caledonia would more likely be a slave name given to a woman captured from Scotland.

Most Roman female names end in ia and all are taken from the male name that ends in us.

Victoria is a lovely name and tbh not that popular at the moment. I know a few my age (30s) but not any little ones.

Doesn't he get a say in naming his child?

What do you mean? It’s a joint decision, why would you get to have more say in it than your partner?

You need to agree together, you are both parents, and will both live with the choice.

Ah, ok. You're definitely on the windup.
Congratulations on little Terancia Colinia Dementia Spudulikia Milencia. Wink

@Inthesameboatatmo Have you read the thread? I've acknowledged multiple times that people don't like the name Terancia and wont be using it. I have added multiple different names to my list that people on here suggested for me. I also don't smoke, shop at Primark or buy fake Gucci. Thanks though.

I'm not controlling the babys name BTW, not sure where people got that impression from? My boyfriend and I have tried to come to an agreement on a name for a long time, but as we have such different tastes couldn't decide on anything. Due to this we BOTH came to an agreement that I would choose the name myself.

All the names you've suggested are equally awful. I feel sorry for the child to be honest. The father also has a right to name the child it's a joint thing or are you usually this immature about decision making

UseOfWeapons · 07/08/2022 14:38

Your child will be unique, there will be no other exactly the same. Please don’t saddle your child with a name that few will be able to spell, most will shorten, and many will be unable to pronounce. It’s not a whim , it’s a persons name.

Inthesameboatatmo · 07/08/2022 14:38

You are controlling it all by saying you don't like the names the father has picked so you will decide. That's controlling. How old are you ? You sound about 14 or you are an immature adult . How can you even see you aren't controlling.

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 14:45

Anyway, I appreciate everyones genuine feedback and suggestions. Thanks all.

how about Cloacina? The name of a fragrant Roman goddess and very rarely used?

DismantledKing · 07/08/2022 14:52

Sounds like the kind of thing that Arthur Daley used to call Terry McCann

Muezza · 07/08/2022 14:56

What about Vittoria

Of course you did.

If this is real it is tragic.

Shock So the baby's Dad doesn't get a veto ?

On the small chance this thread isn't a wind up, all I can say is poor child.

Tulipomania · 07/08/2022 15:11
