What do you think of this name for a baby girl?
Names also on my list are Milencia and Astoria.

They're all quite unique names and all end in an "ia" sound which I love. If anyone has any similar suggestions please let me know.

Ghastly. Sounds like a brand of floor tiles. And Milencia like my dog's worming tablet. Astoria was a hotel chain.

DamnAKarmaDingDong · 07/08/2022 10:52

Surely there's a happy medium between your child being one of four Isabellas in the class, and her being instantly identifiable forever, even when she might not want to be? A name isn't somehow worth less, or a child less unique, because there's more than one example of it. Or we all might as well just have numbers.

butterflied · 07/08/2022 10:52

An actual human being has to live with the "unique" name you choose.

germsandcoffee · 07/08/2022 10:52

Sounds like a big hairy spider 😳

Spidey66 · 07/08/2022 10:52

Sorry, no. It sounds to like you were trying to invent a female version of Terence, which itself is a terrible, dated name. Please don't call her that.

MumUndone · 07/08/2022 10:53

Hoppinggreen · 07/08/2022 10:43

Sounds like you want to name her after a male relative called Terrance.
How about Colincia instead?

DamnAKarmaDingDong · 07/08/2022 10:54

Also isn't Aria now a top 50 name?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/08/2022 10:56

Its very pretty Astoria is gorgeous, though.

Florencia instead

Brented · 07/08/2022 11:00

Aria is the 39th most popular girl’s name and rising, Victoria is 118th and falling. Surprisingly Valencia has shot from 3795th to 941st, so if you want a unique name, then I think Victoria is a better bet!

Denny53 · 07/08/2022 11:02

Op please don’t. Your DD will spend her whole life explaining how it’s spelled and how it’s pronounced

LightDrizzle · 07/08/2022 11:11

It sounds like a man called Terrence wanting to name his daughter after himself so ‘feminising’ the name. Like Nigel Lawson did with daughter Nigella.

^ This. Im not sure if this is a joke thread on your part but obviously Colincia was a piss-take.

Astoria is a bingo hall or hotel. MiIencia is just made-up and too prissy. Why is yoonique such a big deal to you? Were you one of 5 Alices in your class or something? I'd go for unusual but not novel if that's your concern. Aria has been quite popular for a few years so I'd avoid that or you might be disappointed.

Lydia
Celia
Cecilia
Claudia
Hortencia
Cynthia
Natalia
Victoria

All the above are lovely to me but she won't spend her life explaining them to other people and having to spelling them out loud.

PortalooSunset · 07/08/2022 11:14

Cones alongside names such as Thomasina in my mind, which are code for "we wanted a boy".

orangeisthenewpuce · 07/08/2022 11:17

Evasmissingletter · 07/08/2022 10:34

Sounds like a cream for thrush.

It really does. It also sounds like you and your husband are called Terry and Marcia and you've amalgamated them into a made up name

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 07/08/2022 11:18

My firs thought was it is an obscure health complaint I had never heard of before. So its a no from me!

StillHappy · 07/08/2022 11:19

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 10:43

@GrandSlamFinalee Have always loved the name Victoria but it just doesn't have the unique aspect I'm looking for sadly.
Aria is beautiful though, will definitely add that to my list.

Frogmellia?

Unique and exotic, but far nicer than your first idea.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 07/08/2022 11:20

Terancia - a cosmetics brand, sounds like tarantula, or Terence which apparently is a "male name of uncertain meaning"

Milencia - meaningless, sounds like a drug - possibly for worming dogs or cattle

Astoria - grubby cinema/nightclub/bar. If I met a child called Astoria I would think she was named after the venue where she was conceived.

What about Aster or Astrid?

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 11:24

Okay, seems to be an overwhelming no on Terencia then 😅
@LightDrizzle Yes I'm aware that Milencia is a made-up sounding name because that is the vibe I'm going for if you couldn't tell.

So many lovely name suggestions on here! Will go through them all later.

Incontinentia?

I knew a man once married to an Incontinentia. Incontinentia Buttocks.

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 11:28

@StillHappy Not sure how any of the names on my list are comparable to Incontinentia. Thanks though 🙄

Astoria is lovely and you can call her story for short

Seriously? They are awful, the sort of thing you’d associate with a character from a sink estate in a BBC comedy drama.

Married Biggus Dickus didn't she? Grin

GucciBear · 07/08/2022 11:40

Sounds like a female Terrence. A point to make == Something is either unique - meaning ONE of its kind only - or not. It cannot be qualified.

Sandysandwich · 07/08/2022 11:42

A lot of the suggestions are cool,
Astoria sounds nice as a name but it is a massive and minging nightclub near a lot of Uni buildings. In the news a lot for catching fire and being the setting of a lot of violent crime including SA. - its a a bit synonymous with dodgy and grotty
