I have a Tara and want to stick with a T name. Leaning towards Tegan but also like Trinity and Trudy

I've ways thought of Tegan as a Welsh name. Didn't realise people are so snobby about it.

Love Tamar, it was on my shortlist.

Trinity is pure Matrix for me, too much so!

Tamarisk (nn Tammy) and Trixie are my contributions to the thread

@BlueFlavour

I agree *@ZoyaTheDestroyer*. Pearl and Ruby yes Topaz and Emerald no It’s interesting why not.
I LOVE Emerald as a given name. I have seen it snottily dismissed as a ‘stripper name’ on here but the only one I know is properly posh!

Tegan is awful.

And don't do matching letters for siblings. It will be a nightmare when they're getting mail. Plus it's tacky.

Tegan in Welsh means ‘toy’ and rhymes with Megan.

Yes and Welsh speakers don't traditionally use it as a name. However, it came to mean tegan as it also means 'fair (as in loved/favoured) thing' so I can see how it can also be a name.

I love the name Tegan. I went to school with one and she was really nice.

Chewbecca · 20/02/2022 11:42

Tamsin is the best of the names mentioned.

I’m afraid Tegan to me sounds like it should be screeched, e.g. across the park or supermarket by a worn out, harassed mum.

Just don’t screech it then?
Chewbecca · 20/02/2022 12:09

I can’t ‘hear’ it in any other tone. The name is perfect for screeching.

AlexaLouder · 20/02/2022 13:09

I like Tegan.

Taz is a cute but as a nickname - short for Tazmin. Or Topaz as suggested above.

I know you're wedded to the 'T' names thing, but just as a wildcard, what about Kerenza? Goes really nicely with Tegan and has a similar feel. (Or even Keturah/Ketura as then you could have a 'T' nickname of Tura!)

How weird. I mean you could screech any name couldn’t you.

My DD would have been called Tess if I didn't have an irrational hatred of Tess Daley! (Also bad memories of Tess of the D'Urbervilles at GCSE)

I hate American names / using surnames as First names / Kardashian type names etc but I like Tegan / Teagan !!

Whatdramain2022 · 20/02/2022 13:33

Tegan is an awful name. Trudy is a short version on Gertrude. I like Trinity and also Tabitha because the short version Tabby is cute.

Cheekypeach · 20/02/2022 13:42

Tabby is a cat’s name.
