I have a Tara and want to stick with a T name. Leaning towards Tegan but also like Trinity and Trudy

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cheekypeach · 19/02/2022 19:05

In fact I just went onto a London law chambers website, and the names of their barristers are quite a mix. There was a:
Rex
Leanne
Kirsty
Cathlyn
Jodie
Avril
Rihanna

It’s hilarious that the try-hard snobs on here aren’t making a blind bit of difference to their kids career outcomes 😂

Blueexpress · 19/02/2022 19:06

Hehe… love it 😂😂

Tegan and Trudy are awful, sorry. I think Trinity is the best one out of your choices

Here are some other suggestions:

Tessa
Tia
Taylor
Taytum/Tatum
Tinley
Talia/Tallia
Tylee
Tylia/Tylea
Tia
Tyra
Taylee

whatworkhours · 19/02/2022 19:21

Thandie, Thalia, Tabitha,

Really dislike Trinity, sorry it sounds naff

Tegan is okay

AnnieSnap · 19/02/2022 19:23

@Blueexpress given your response about posters who don’t like your name choices and that you are so confident in liking the names, why are you asking on a public forum? Not being snippy here. It’s a genuine question! 🤷‍♀️

Because it’s not that people don’t ‘like’ the name it’s that they’re judging it purely by bizarre snobby preconceptions. It clouds the water as to whether it’s a ‘nice sounding’ name or not & is irrelevant

Casheeeew · 19/02/2022 19:40

Tabitha

Sunny like the OPs 3 suggestions, sorry

I’m not that confident about them actually. I appreciate the genuine feedback, It’s just the snobbishness that I don’t like.

@Cheekypeach

Tegan/Teagan is gorgeous. MNers give their kids stale names in the hope they’ll be a high court judge but none of them are. The only people judging on names is them.

I also like Brooke, Piper, Poppy and Kyla.

😂😂😂😂
Blueexpress · 19/02/2022 19:43

Really not keen on Tabitha sorry

New short list of between Tegan, Taz & Trina

New short list of between Tegan, Taz & Trina
I really like Teagan & Taz!
daisypond · 20/02/2022 07:19

Prefer Tegan to Taz or Trina. Taz and Trina surely have to be short for something. They are odd otherwise.

labyrinthlaziness · 20/02/2022 07:24

Taz is a bad idea looneytunes.fandom.com/wiki/Tasmanian_Devil

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2022 07:27

How about Topaz?

BlueFlavour · 20/02/2022 07:34

I really like Topaz, and don’t understand why it’s not more popular, we have Ruby, why not Topaz?
Tegan sounds too masculine for me, and plus I knew a mean one in DD’s class.

labyrinthlaziness · 20/02/2022 07:42

Topaz is a fairly cheap stone, I thought? That might be why.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2022 07:50

Topaz is a semiprecious stone but then so are jade and jasper, both well-established as names.

ThanksItHasPockets · 20/02/2022 07:52

Topaz can be precious or semiprecious depending on its colour. ‘Precious’ or ‘imperial’ topaz are the rarest and are yellow to orange.

labyrinthlaziness · 20/02/2022 07:53

I think well-established names are different, topaz makes me think of the rings people wore in school. Jasper has a really long history as a name.

The reason classic names persist is we associate them with people, not objects.

interferingma · 20/02/2022 07:54

Tamsin, Tamsyn, Tamzin or Thomasina?

Piggy42 · 20/02/2022 08:12

Why not go with Tamsin, but keep the nickname Taz? Only because i would think it’s slightly more usual, so she’s less likely to have to correct people.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2022 08:12

Sure. I was just addressing your suggestion that there might be a correlation between the preciousness of the gem and its popularity as a given name. If that were the case then Diamond and Sapphire would be much more widely used as names.
BlueFlavour · 20/02/2022 08:16

I agree @ZoyaTheDestroyer.
Pearl and Ruby yes
Topaz and Emerald no
It’s interesting why not.
