What is Arthur's sister called?

I feel like I've been through every name in the world and still can't find the "perfect" one.

We're fussy because the surname is long (double barrelled), and so the first name has to be short. Also my family tends to use nicknames, so it has to have a nickname that we like.

We loved Iris for ages, but I hate all nicknames that we can come up with for it. I also love Annie as a nickname, but don't want to give her a nickname as a first name so she can use the longer form when she's older. But the only longer version of Annie that I like is Anastasia, and that feels too long with our surname!

Help!

I like the Welsh/West Country old English vibe with Arthur; Megan, Isolde, Agnes, Gudrun, etc.

I have an Arthur and am pregnant although we found out we are having a boy.

If baby was a girl she would have been Amber.

I love the name Arthur so so much.

His sister is called:
Mabel
Florence
Agnes
Edith
Constance
Cecilia

Any use?

I wouldn't call Arthur a short now!

However, with that name maybe ...

Kate
Clare
Eve/Eva
Fern
Zara
Ella
Lucy
Ruby
May
Liza
Nina

Elsie. Eslpeth if you want a longer version. But Iris is lovely and doesn’t really get shortened?

Something two syllable for sure. Annie is nice.

Arthur and…

Daisy
Elsie
Lois
Polly
Rosa

ShinyThingsDistractMe · 18/09/2021 14:47

Arthur and Violet

That sounds lovely, as other PP's have suggested.

It has that stop at the end I think you are after, and really nickname wise it's only really Vi or I think lotty.

I came on to say Eliza but I can see that there are issues with your surname, is this because your surname starts with a vowel?

I’d also suggest:

Florence, not short in spelling but only two syllables.
Frances
Jean
Edith

My grandad was Arthur, his sister was Ivy

Ursula? Yrsa? Artemis, Artio? Melissa?

Arthur does mean 'bear' after all.
