Old/ unusual Irish boys names

We are Irish living in Ireland and considering an Irish name.
Not one of the "common" names like Cian, Sean, Liam, Cillian, Peadar, Micheal , Fiachra, Conn, Fionn, Oisin, Naoise etc

Not one of the ones that have become popular recently as family/ friends have got there first!
Eg Odhran, Rian, Tiernan, Tadhg

We are thus leaning towards an unusual/ old name that is not commonly used. I will get a book but as the weekend is coming up I'd love to have a few suggestions

(Excuse my lack of fadas!)

Not an Irish name, so already failing the brief Grin, but I really like Thaddeus which used to be a common name in Ireland.

Padraig...my son was to be called that until I realised he would be like a famous golfer too! Lol!

LifesNotDoneYet · 17/09/2021 19:36

We've got Lorcan, Conleth, Tiernan and Darragh on our longlist.

Has Tiernan become really popular? We're in Scotland and it's not common here.

My County Kildare grandad was Terrace.

UpshittsCreek · 17/09/2021 19:42

@LifesNotDoneYet I think it's a beautiful name but I cannot get the association of it being a second name as well. I always thinking of the comedian Tommy Tiernan.
