@Godwits

Ida. Ava. Both awful but popular for some unfathomable reason as they sound so harsh

Bertha will be the new Evie. Or Olivia.
Trust me. It'll be huge.

Ava does not sound harsh, it's actually v soft to say.

Bertha just males me think of Jane Eyre and the slavering, violent, wild haired, mentally ill "former" Mrs. Rochester.

Big Bertha

Bella is nicer than Bertha. Please don't call your baby girl Bertha.

Isabella

To be honest, I think any girl named Bertha nowadays would get teased endlessly about it. Especially when kids learn about World War I in history class and Big Bertha gets brought up. Imagine all your classmates have mellifluous names like Sophia, Olivia and Isabella and you're stuck with Bertha.

The only Bertha I have ever known was my grandma.

Terrible. Makes me think of The Goodies show - "Black pudding Bertha" song
