I really cant make my mind up but I think I like it.

my husband keeps throwing names out there, I get attached and he then decides he doesnt like it. he is really keen on the name Ace/Acer. I like Ace more but do like the name Acer based on the meaning (number one/the best). we have a daughter called Ada as well for a bit of background.

thoughts or any ideas of other names!?

I associate Ace with the Dr Who companion who liked to blow things up.
Although her name was actually Dorothy.

With a dc named Ada I would avoid short A names.

I did actually really like Asher but husband ruled it out because he knows an ashley who he really dislikes and says it reminds him too much of that.

he has rejected every name I suggested and of the two he offered that I originally said that I didnt mind (Jaxon and Arlo) he has now retracted and "hates".

We know a little boy with Ace as a middle name. It’s not as unique or unusual as it should be

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 18:58

yes, I think it is definitely climbing the popularity ranks!

Ace...? Ace hole

whatswithtodaytoday · 23/07/2021 19:11

I couldn't name my child after Ace Rimmer Grin

EssentialHummus · 23/07/2021 19:11

I like it! Would use Ace rather than Acer.

ItPearl · 23/07/2021 19:36

Hugo
Viggo
Bruno
Milo

I like Arlo but it is thee most of the moment 'o' names

MondayYogurt · 23/07/2021 19:39

I like it but I think it's short for asexual these days.
Mace
Pace
Aron?

Could use it as a NN if you go with first name starting A second name starting C?

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 19:40

I do like bruno too but it's his cousins name!

NomadMum · 23/07/2021 19:40

I like Ace, it’s more popular than you’d think too

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 23/07/2021 19:41

@TakeYourFinalPosition

Smoke me a kipper, ill be back for breakfast!

This was my first thought too - but I do like the name. I’m not sure I’d use it if I had an Ada, but that’s absolutely your call.

Acer is too well known as the computer brand, I think.

Well, Ada Lovelace invented computer programming so there’s a theme of a sort…
Stichintime · 23/07/2021 19:45

Ace and Ada? Asher is much better, or skip the A names all together.

Mischance · 23/07/2021 19:45

This is a true John McEnroe moment.

percheron67 · 23/07/2021 19:52

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 19:53

he wont have asher :(

why do people think this is not a serious name, it is climbing the popularity lists lol! I'm presuming that is what you are alluding too by the john mcenroe comment anyway!

Mischance · 23/07/2021 19:54

Honeyroar · 23/07/2021 19:58

Wasn’t Ace a gladiator in the 90s?
