Which do you prefer

  • Ella or Zara

Both fairly popular names, I love them both. Ella I’m worried that it’s too overly used and Zara I’m worried it’s too harsh/association with the clothing shop. Would love to hear what you think. Smile

I love Zara and don't think of the clothing shop. I think of the Royal Zara, and a lovely friend.

Tbh I find Ella a bit dull.

MrsBungle · 13/07/2021 19:42

Zara. Much nicer than Ella IMO.

HJN28 · 13/07/2021 19:42

Thank you for your opinion. I love both but I know what you mean about Ella, with it being a fairly popular and used a lot name.

Honestly? They’re just so ubiquitous it’d make me think the parents lacked imagination and had no individuality.

Marlena1 · 13/07/2021 19:44

I love Zara. Like Ella too but Zara is really cool!

Curlysusie · 13/07/2021 19:45

Ella x

Dontdripme · 13/07/2021 19:49

Ella don’t like
Zara prefer

CrouchEndTiger12 · 13/07/2021 19:49

Wasn't expecting to see those.

@CrouchEndTiger12 they are feminine girls names in my opinion but also love your suggestions of Anne & Emma. Sadly these names are already taken by close family. Thank you for your help

Zara. Ella is just so dull in it's ubiquity. Then adding in Elsie, Eliza, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Ellie, Elodie, Eloise, Elena (all in the top 200) the El-sound is just saturated.

SionnachRua · 13/07/2021 19:54

Ella very bland, boring and dull.
I like Zara but much, much prefer Zahra (although of course that breaks the 4 letter rule!).

CrouchEndTiger12 · 13/07/2021 19:54

Oh I wasn't saying they aren't feminine...not at all. Just expected to see more older classics Grin

That's a shame they are all used.

I do love Zara though. It is a cool name.

Jaffacake007 · 13/07/2021 19:56

I like Ella

My daughter's name is Erin... might work as it's short but don't know if it's feminine sounding enough?

hazandduck · 13/07/2021 20:00

Love the name Zara.

Ella is boring.

Els1e · 13/07/2021 20:10

Like the name Zara. Ella is ok but I keep thinking of that Rihanna song. Really like Erin - that is both feminine and strong. Or Evie.

girlmama32 · 13/07/2021 20:12

I like Zara, Ella is nice too but I prefer Elle as Ella is extremely popular.

Glad to hear it!

Alternatively…. You asked for opinions on the names. I gave mine. Don’t ask the question if you don’t want to hear the answer.

Chattercino · 13/07/2021 20:14

Anna

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 13/07/2021 20:15

Ps. You’re amazing… just FYI.

Htp320 · 13/07/2021 20:18

I wouldn’t make a judgement on a parent based on the name they gave their child unless it was particularly unusual.

Zara and Ella are both nice names IMO, I prefer Zara though.
