Cute. I really like it. Congrats Thanks

Toilenstripes · 06/06/2021 17:17

I think it’s a lovely tribute to the Queen and an adorable name.

Twizbe · 06/06/2021 17:18

A few weeks back there was a poster on here asking about Lilibet for a girls name - I wonder ....

Personally I don't like it as it's a nickname not a full name, but I think the sentiment is sweet.

But tbf I don't like Archie either so I obviously have a different taste in names.

RickiTarr · 06/06/2021 17:18

I don’t think that’s going to re-endear them to HMQ and it’s too big a burden of a name to give to a Californian civilian girl. I don’t like giving babies the burden of dead relative’s names anyway TBH.

RickiTarr · 06/06/2021 17:18

I suspect that’s what the family will think too.

Serpenta · 06/06/2021 17:20

Shame Meghan's mum's name wasn't used as a second middle name.

I've always found the Lilibet thing to be very saccharine and twee but Lili is fine and goes well with Archie.

Her name is Lili. That's not a big burden. Many people, myself included, have off-the-wall middle names which honour a dead relative - but they rarely see the light of day.

Cute

BIWI · 06/06/2021 17:25

Lovely names.

Lots of assumptions already here that they are somehow insulting the queen. For all we know they will have consulted her about it.

But, actually, who cares?

Their child, their choice of name!

Serpenta · 06/06/2021 17:28

The anti-Harry and Meghan brigade see everything they do as an affront to the royal family. They were clearly keen to honour the queen and have done so. Anyone perceiving it as an insult needs to move out of the sun and have a lie down.

Richter235 · 06/06/2021 17:30

A manipulative choice.

WallaceinAnderland · 06/06/2021 17:33

Is Moutbatten-Windsor used here as a double barrelled middle name or is that their surname?

AnneShirleysNewDress · 06/06/2021 17:34

Mountbatten-Windsor is their surname. I like Lilibet and Lili goes with Archie.

BlueDucky · 06/06/2021 17:36

Very nice

HopeValley · 06/06/2021 17:38

I think Elizabeth Diana would have been much nicer with Lilibet as a nickname. It's a nice diminutive but not a name in its own right.

Cbeebiesrehab · 06/06/2021 17:38

Lovely. Find it really sad that every little thing they do is criticised, how anyone could see them naming their daughter Lilibet Diana is ‘manipulative’ or anything other than a show of love for Harry’s grandmother/mother is awful in my opinion. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

WallaceinAnderland · 06/06/2021 17:39

I like it. Although DH said it sounds like a tampon so now I'm not so sure.

Longdistance · 06/06/2021 17:43

Already used for William and Katharine’s Charlotte. She is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

3JsMa · 06/06/2021 17:46

Love it.
@Longdistance,not the same as she will be called Lily.

Cbeebiesrehab · 06/06/2021 17:47

@Longdistance so not already used then, as her name is Charlotte...not Lilibet, in fact, Lilibet doesn’t even feature in her name.

milkytwilight · 06/06/2021 17:48

Not a huge fan of the name, but I didn't like the name Archie either. Different strokes for different folks, the world would be very bland if we all liked the same names. It's always a blessing when a child is born to loving parents :)

CaffiSaliMali · 06/06/2021 17:48

Lilibet feels like a nickname to me but is perfectly fine. Lili is lovely and goes very nicely with Archie.

saraclara · 06/06/2021 17:49

A nickname is way more personal than a given name. It shouldn't be transferred to another person.

So no, I don't like it, and if I was the Queen and hadn't been asked beforehand if it was okay to use it, I'd be annoyed.

Ragoo · 06/06/2021 17:52

After all the negative publicity they've caused and the way in which they spoke about the royal family of late, I think is massively disrespectful and they've got quite a cheek actually.

Cbeebiesrehab · 06/06/2021 17:53

@saraclara you’d be annoyed at your granddaughter sharing your nickname? Seems a weird thing to be annoyed about. Both my children’s names are diminutives/contain grandparents/great grandparents names, not one of them/any of the family ever expressed anything other than happiness about it.
