What does this name make people think of, is it a controversial choice? I it is pronounced ah-mon-deen.

@Violetlavenders

It’s not the same. In French it’s Aa mon deen not Ah.

I pronounce Aa and Ah exactly the same. And I speak French.

I'm half French.

Ma in French is pronounced a as in cat not Mah as in car.

I would think it is a drug

It feels a bit like one of those where the parents want an a girl name and are just working down the list trying to find a different a girl name.

It'll be shortened to Mandy or mis pronounced all her life. I knew an Amelie which I know isn't that unusual but her and her mum would fume when she introduced herself and people thought her name was Emily. I'm not keen tbh.

I know an Amandine in her late 30s
It's a pretty name but maybe dated in France.
And as others have said it relies on the French pronunciation

I think a lot of British people would pronounce it A-Man-Deen, so there would be issues with correcting people if that would bother you. I looked up a french speaker pronouncing it and I do like it but I don't think it's as nice from British speakers.

I think it's beautiful. My friend (French Swedish couple) used it for their DD.
