What does this name make people think of, is it a controversial choice? I it is pronounced ah-mon-deen.

It's a pretty French name. I can't see anything controversial about it.

Violetlavenders · 25/04/2021 15:45

Beautiful

Violetlavenders · 25/04/2021 15:46

What's controversial about it? Confused

ILoveStickers · 25/04/2021 15:50

Nice - very French. I'd probably assume the family had French connections, but it's still fine if not.

giggly · 25/04/2021 15:51

Sorry in a Scottish accent that’s going to sound like “a man down”🥴

whatausername · 25/04/2021 16:07

It doesn't sound so good without a French accent. Do you have one or will she be raised there?

ILikeMango · 25/04/2021 16:07

Trout

LakeShoreD · 25/04/2021 16:10

Beautiful if you’re French and live in France. If you live in the U.K. I’d worry people would tend to pronounce it like Amanda so A-Man-Dine or worse A-Man-Down depending on accent which isn’t anywhere near as nice.

katy1213 · 25/04/2021 16:11

Trout or cake.

EileenGC · 25/04/2021 16:11

I think French.

Alfxn · 25/04/2021 16:14

To be honest when I saw the thread title on Active Topics I thought it was a typo for Amantadine, which is a painkilling drug, but probably not many people will make that connection!!

toolazytothinkofausername · 25/04/2021 16:16

A-man-dine

Sorry, not a fan.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 25/04/2021 16:16

Are you french?
If not, it won't sound lovely, but if you are it will

Willdoitlater · 25/04/2021 16:18

Sounds like a brand of medication. Sorry.

MadMadMadamMim · 25/04/2021 16:21

It sounds like a semi-precious stone to me.

I don't really like it as a name.

Amdone123 · 25/04/2021 16:24

Said with French pronunciation, beautiful. Otherwise, no.

annaboo2 · 25/04/2021 16:27

It makes me think of almonds. I agree unless you are in France, there may be pronunciation issues.

SardineJam · 25/04/2021 16:28

Very pretty name

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 25/04/2021 16:28

It lovely

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 25/04/2021 16:29

It’s

toastofthetown · 25/04/2021 16:30

I don’t think it’s a controversial choice. I wouldn’t have thought there would be pronunciation issues but judging by this thread maybe there are. Not sure how people get ‘a man down’ though.

GintyMcGinty · 25/04/2021 16:31

Nice enough.

But your child will spend her whole life spelling her name and correcting pronunciation.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 25/04/2021 16:34

These. Yummy. Grin

I’m Scottish and it doesn’t sound like “a man down”.
It’s a fine name. Why is it controversial do you think @onitsukaPhilosykos77?
