Just curious because i personally think it's a pretty and cute name but no one seems to like it.

It sounds like Cameron gone wrong!

dinosforall · 11/02/2021 09:12

It looks like txtspk

Hotcuppatea · 11/02/2021 09:13

Awful. Why not Cameron?

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/02/2021 09:13

Girl or boy? How do you pronounce it?

Ismellphantoms · 11/02/2021 09:13

Is it a unisex name or for boys? It looks like someone can't spell Cameron.

londongirl12 · 11/02/2021 09:14

Because it looks like Cameron, but trying to be modern with a weird spelling

SorbusAucuparia · 11/02/2021 09:14

I agree with @4Mongrels. I think names that look like misspellings/creative variations tend to be unpopular, especially y-spellings. (e.g. Madysyn, Aliviyah, Jaysyn etc.). Cameron is quite nice and definitely underused.

2typesofjungle · 11/02/2021 09:15

It looks like a stupid version of Cameron.

NorbertMeubles · 11/02/2021 09:17

Because it looks like you can't spell

Overdoor · 11/02/2021 09:17

Well, it's pretty awful. It's the surname of a recent PM who blithely threw a referendum that resulted in the current Brexit omnishambles, only with subliterate txtspk tweakings.

See also Jaxxon or Makkaylah or K8.

BoneAppleTeaa · 11/02/2021 09:20

Makes me think of the car, Toyota Camry.

SorbusAucuparia · 11/02/2021 09:22

Oooh, @BoneAppleTeaa, that's what it reminded me of! Shame really, Octavia would also be a nice name if it weren't for Skoda...

BoneAppleTeaa · 11/02/2021 09:26

I would probably still use the name Octavia, as it has history of being an actual Latin girls name.

Galvantulang · 11/02/2021 09:26

Yup, looks like Cameron with an odd spelling.

SorbusAucuparia · 11/02/2021 09:28

@SorbusAucuparia

Oooh, *@BoneAppleTeaa*, that's what it reminded me of! Shame really, Octavia would also be a nice name if it weren't for Skoda...
Camry dates back to ancient times, too - 1982! Wink

Grin
SquirtleSquad · 11/02/2021 09:48

Is a really shit name. It means crooked nose and looks like you don't know how to spell.

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 11/02/2021 09:49

I like it. Don't take any notice of anyone else. I think its lovely x

LunarSea · 11/02/2021 09:51

Because you / dc would forever be having to spell it out. Go with the phonetically equal Cameron and make everyone's life easier.

sashh · 11/02/2021 10:02

Sorry but I think it looks like the name of an acne cream.

esee22 · 11/02/2021 10:10

I'm one of the few people on here who actually likes non-traditional spellings - I love names like Katelyn, Kacie, Myah, Libbie... but Camryn isn't nice. The original name itself has a horrible meaning as someone has already pointed out, and it's not very feminine. Spelling it with a "y" doesn't make it any more feminine, and it makes no sense phonetically either, because it suggests it should be pronounced "cam-rin" rather than "cam-ron". That being said, if you really love it then there's no reason why you shouldn't choose it.

PattyPan · 11/02/2021 10:10

I don’t like Cameron but with a weird spelling it’s even worse.

MackenCheese · 11/02/2021 10:14

Because no one's ever heard of it

SoupDragon · 11/02/2021 10:15

Because it's not a name it is a misspelling of a name. I bet you want to use it for a girl too.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2021 10:17

and it's not very feminine

That will be because Cameron is a boy's name.
