Sheila
Carol

Gary
Brian
Reginald

Any to add?
@TildaTurnip me too, gutted last baby was a boy! It's a diminutive of Matilda and I love it!
I didn’t realise that! If I’d have had a girl, she’d have been Matilda.

FreakStar · 26/07/2020 22:56

Never say never! Even if Karen isn't likely to have a resurgence in the foreseeable future, it doesn't mean that in years to come when current memes are long forgotten and we're all dead and gone that it won't come back.

Who would ave thought Noah would be popular again thousands of years since he built his ark! ?

tobee · 26/07/2020 22:56

My dd had someone in her primary class called Norbert. I think he was French speaking in origin so it was pronounced "Norrbearr" which is rather lovely!

Llamazoom · 26/07/2020 22:56

Maud is too much like mould. Love the name Felix but the cat food connection put me off when DS was born.

Hilary
Rita
Martin

The names of our grand parents and great grand parents are coming back. Who would have thought 15 years ago we would be seeing Arthur and Ada in the top 20?

I find it absolutely bonkers to think Keith, Susan, Brian and Brenda might come back in 30 years, but you never know...... (I do find it very hard to believe though!!)

My mum was saying recently that when Prince William was born it raised a lot of eyebrows as it was an old man's name... So who knows!!!

It will be weird when we have baby Colin, John, David crawling around.. I honestly don't think it will happen... but..... but Evelyn is now top 20.. as is Albert I think?

I don’t think there are any names that won’t make a comeback

Exactly, if I had been told 40+ years ago what names would be popular now I doubt I would have believed you. I dreaded having a boy because there would be pressure for a family name which now is very popular but then would have made him a laughing stock.

formerbabe · 26/07/2020 22:59

@alltoomuchrightnow

I love every name you mentioned!

I can see Lorna becoming very popular nowadays.

Llamazoom · 26/07/2020 23:02

I really like Julia and Noel. I can’t imagine a baby Dave!

Silentfrog · 26/07/2020 23:03

I hope Denise never makes a comeback!

formerbabe · 26/07/2020 23:04

I know a child called David, interestingly also from an EE background.

Cherrysherbet · 26/07/2020 23:04

Leslie.

supersonicginandtonic · 26/07/2020 23:05

I know 2 baby Gary's and a baby Alan.
We want to call our baby Noel if we have a boy.

FreakStar · 26/07/2020 23:05

I think 1940s names will be next to make a comeback - that generation are starting to die and their families will start to name children after them- Dorothy, Margaret, David, Brian, Maureen, Kathleen, Mary, Linda, Barbara, John, James, Donald, Richard, Michael, Carol, Sandra etc.

DancingInDespair · 26/07/2020 23:06

Was Fanny a name in it's own right? I thought it was a diminutive of Frances?
Doubt we'll see any baby Richards nicknamed Dick anytime soon either!

FlamedToACrisp · 26/07/2020 23:07

I used to have a friend called Gaye - I can't envisage her name making a comeback any time soon!

Hippychickster · 26/07/2020 23:07

NRTWT but I am reading a book at the moment and the main character is called Cyril. I don't think that will ever make a comeback.

DancingInDespair · 26/07/2020 23:07

@formerbabe

I know a child called David, interestingly also from an EE background.
Is that unusual? David is a pretty timeless name. It's also Biblical, so I imagine has a long history.
