Tracy, Debbie and sharon coz they were done to death in the 60s and 70s.

@DancingInDespair I went to school with a boy called Richard Head. His parents didn't think that one through and I bet you can guess what everybody called him.

I know quite a few young David's. Can't think of any babies but definitely know a few in the teenager and below age group. Have never thought of that as an 'old' name as I know people of every age with that name, from 90 years old to primary school children.

My name has been mentioned on here. Its a bit of a 70's one, but I actually like my name.
Helen and Claire are also old timeless names. (Greek and Irish). So cant see them disappearing.

@DancingInDespair

No not interesting on its own...I just mentioned that because it was mentioned on here and in my previous post, I said I also knew children called Kevin, Alan and Brian...names also mentioned, and they were from EE backgrounds too.

I was just wondering if perhaps other nationalities tend to use more traditional names...when the trend in the UK is either to go very old lady, old man or very modern.

Poor boy.
Worst I heard was Drew Peacock- although I didn't know him myself, it was a name in a paper.

Ah, I see! I think some African communities tend to use more outdated names. It's a massive generalisation, but quite a few of the African people I deal with at work have names that have mentioned on this thread.

PitlochryAdvice · 26/07/2020 23:17

My name has been brought up a few times and there were three of them in my year at school and was very popular in the 80's.

I love looking up the names list every year to see what crazy names some people have given their kids and I'm sure no-one has given their kid my first name since the mid-90's. After years of no "my name" on the list and even a BBC article about it, two were called it in one year recently. I often wonder how hacked off the parents who thought they were being super retro and unique were when another set of parents did the same thing after so many years of zero "my name"!!

I had a lot of older fashioned names on my list for my children that were vetoed by my DH however both of mine are on this thread but are seen as traditional names from where we live.

Myra
I knew a Myra at school. Even back in the 80s I was surprised her parents had called her that. She changed it to Mira. She died sadly at a very young age :(
DancingInDespair · 26/07/2020 23:19

Oh- one that might never or will take a very long to come back is probably Isis.
