I know a couple of Archibalds and two Reginalds, also have met three young Ernests. And considered both Maud and Neville during last pregnancy.

I love Elliott, I think that's one that never really goes away!
I think Maureen, cuthbert, Deborah, Francis (frankie seems popular though for boys and girls) Matthew, Graham, Marian, Maud, Darren, Martina, Alan
Names I was surprised to hear when having my children - Cylus/Sylus, Ronnie, ingrid, Agnes, magnus, ocean, Eric, Mark, Stanley.

A few people have said that Adolf is one of the few names that'd never come back. But it never went away.

I knew an Adolf when I was at uni. He was German. I remember how he introduced himself to us.

"My name is Adolf. Please call me Adi. Never, never, never Adolf. I do not like my name, but it is our family tradition to call the first boy Adolf and that has been for over 100 years. It is a tradition that stops with me. Now. I will never use it and I apologise for my parents' taste."
He was great and had a lovely sense of humour too. I got the impression that he had had a certain amount of issues at school in Germany with the name though.

Hilda is short for Matilda which is increasingly popular nowadays.

They'll all come back. We'll be on here asking AIBU about our DIL naming the baby Barbara in 25 years time and all the hip young things will be voting in her favour.

I know a Kevin, a Trevor and a Graham, all under 8 yo. They are all American or Canadian, though, if that makes a difference - and I also thought that Graham was called 'Gram' for ages because of the way the parents pronounced it!

SumAndSubstance · 26/07/2020 22:48

What do people think of the name Elliott? Has that come back?

It's never really gone anywhere to come back from, has it?

@TildaTurnip me too, gutted last baby was a boy! It's a diminutive of Matilda and I love it!

SoulofanAggron · 26/07/2020 22:50

Maud

Canyousewcushions · 26/07/2020 22:50

Colin is listed on a lot of these but I think that's a bit classic, especially in Scotland, so I can't see it being done forever. I don't know any under 35 at the minute but it's not a terrible name (not far off Callum, and school seems to be inundated with those).

Paul was also mentioned above a few times but that's a proper biblical classic- fewer about at the minute but I can imagine Peter, Paul, James John, Steven etc as well as
Hannah/Sarah/Ruth all making a comeback. They'll be the new Noah, Seth, Caleb, Elijah in a few years time.

DancingInDespair · 26/07/2020 22:51

Even Karen will come back after a generation when people forget the meme. It's a pretty name.

WitchesGlove · 26/07/2020 22:52

@missyB1

Names I wish would make a come back Veronica Belinda Kerry Geraldine
Why Kerry?

Veronica and Belinda were never very common anyway were they

dannydyerismydad · 26/07/2020 22:53

I met a baby Derek a couple of years ago.

Also there are several baby Karens, Alan's and Neils nearby - particularly Chinese families seem to love an 80s name.

I also know a horse called Kevin.

Buttybach · 26/07/2020 22:54

Fanny and Adolph

Canyousewcushions · 26/07/2020 22:54

I really love Maud too but DH was too honest when relatives asked him about potential baby names and it was roundly derided. I wasn't brave enough but still kind of regret not using it.
