I could see Patricia make a comeback. It’s actually rather lovely.

One of my DDs has a Colin in her school class.

Only names I don't think that will return are the bad association ones like Myra and Adolf.

@Myownnane I've met an Elliott under 20.

Virtually all names will come round again unless they are associated firmly with a tyrant e.g. Adolf or terrorist group e.g. Isis though for names like Karen and Alexa it will take a century.

Well if Karen has been forever consigned to memeland, Wendy has to be too.

@MissBPotter your list actually sounds like a roll call of staff at a college I used to work at!

I love the name Enid - it's very close to Edith which I was also considering using for my eldest Grin. And for whoever asked I love the name Elliott too. Names I dont think will make a come back:

Karen
Sharon
Nora
Theresa

Clarence
Ernest
Douglas
Kenneth

My real name is one of those above................

It's a true 70s name and I hope to God no other kids are inflicted with it. One syllable change would have made it classy and timeless but nope, not my Mum. Cheers for that Hmm

Isis

I knew someone who named their baby Isis in 2002, I lost touch, but often think how it must have affected her daughter in more recent times.

I think this thread will roam into hot waters. It is likely to hurt people's feelings.

@MrsGilly1

I think Ethel, Enid will still be around as I know little girls with both!

I think names such as...

Girls...

Louise
Karen
Sally
Gillian
Pamela
Christine
Patricia
Marjorie

Boys

Keith
Paul
Eugene
Douglas

I know two babies named Douglas (both Dougie day to day). Both with Scottish parents!

I know fairly young children called Gary, Sally, Louise, Scott, Christine...I don't think many names are totally off limits. Except, as others have said, Adolf...
