Some older names I don't think will be returning:

Ethel
Enid
Sheila
Carol

Archibald
Gary
Brian
Reginald

Any to add?

I never understand people who name their kids Hannah, Sarah, Emily or Lily because they are such overused boring names. So many children are still called that though..

Pygmyseahorse · 27/07/2020 15:13

There will always be someone who uses a name.. Family names etc

I do struggle with anykne who holds their newborn in their arms and thinks.. Ahh you look like a Keith/kevin but to each their own!

@Handsoffisback

Myra, for obvious reasons
I think that won't hold as much significance for the next generation. Jack the Ripper didnt stop Jack being a popular name.

I had an auntie Dolly - I don't think that will make a comeback!

I’ve taught two girls called Dolly in the last few years.
gower4 · 27/07/2020 15:52

Myra!!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 27/07/2020 15:53

Jack and Rose survived because they were massively popular, whereas Myra wasn't. So to most people Jack didn't equal Jack the Ripper, but Uncle Jack or Jack down the road or Jack who runs the chip shop or whoever.

Lavenderblues · 27/07/2020 15:56

If boys are named Teddy, girls can be called Dolly Grin

AragornsManlyStubble · 27/07/2020 15:56

At least two of my ferrets names are mentioned here so maybe they’ll given a new furry lease of life if the humans are rejecting them!

Thisismytimetoshine · 27/07/2020 15:57

Isn't Dolly short for Dolores? I certainly can't imagine that coming back! But I can't imagine calling a child Dolly either. It's a ridiculous diminutive.

Yesterdayforgotten · 27/07/2020 15:58

@AragornsManlyStubble yes resurrect these dated names with the ferrets, I like it!

Lweji · 27/07/2020 15:59
