LUCY!?

I rarely hear this name which surprises me because it's such a clean, beautiful and utterly timeless girls name!! Why don't more people use it?

We want a really pretty but classic name and Lucy/Lucie is at the top of my list (Annabelle, Elena and Anna close runners up)

What do you think of Lucy?

My eldest DD is a Lucie. She's 25. Her proper name is Lucia but my mum couldn't pronounce it with the a on the end so shortened to Lucie.

bookworm14 · 04/03/2020 16:39

It’s my name and I have no complaints! Smile

lovelyupnorth · 04/03/2020 16:40

My daughter Lucy wouldn’t agree. Seems to be loads round here.

Namechangeforthis123 · 04/03/2020 16:40

I love it. Especially spelt Lucie ❤️

Thripp · 04/03/2020 16:41

Absolutely gorgeous.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 04/03/2020 16:41

I have a 15 year old Lucy. There’s one other her age that I know of locally. In my work with young children I hear the name occasionally but not often. I still love it.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 16:42

Lucie is awful.

Calixtine · 04/03/2020 16:44

It’s fine. I can’t muster a stronger opinion on it than that, but it’s traditional, not too popular and widely known, so a good choice all round.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 04/03/2020 16:45

I have a Lucy

SoftBlocks · 04/03/2020 16:47

I like it.

Knobblybobbly · 04/03/2020 16:49

Love it. Definitely due a big surge I’d say.

CaptainWentworth · 04/03/2020 16:56

I have a 16 month Lucy and everyone seems to agree it suits her! She is strawberry blonde and very fair and the other names we liked (Margot, Violet) seemed more suited to a dark haired child for some reason.

We really couldn’t decide on a name for ages and eventually chose it for many of the reasons mentioned above- classic, not hugely over popular, works in most situations, and we both have liked every Lucy we’d met previously!

DoctorBambino · 04/03/2020 17:16

I love Lucy, a pretty, classic name. Every Lucy I've met has been very nice too

Fifthtimelucky · 04/03/2020 17:37

Lucy is my husband's favourite name and I really like it too. We didn't use it because by the time our daughter was born we already had a cat called Lucy and I didn't want our daughter to get confused or to think she was named after the cat!

Brassica · 04/03/2020 17:44

@Thisismytimetoshine wow you’re pretty outspoken. It’s not ‘awful’ but perhaps it’s not your taste. Maybe try putting things in a way less likely to make you sound mean.

TiggeryBear · 04/03/2020 17:45

I have a 4 year old Lucy 😍

lovelyupnorth · 04/03/2020 17:46

@brassica

It is awful spelt that way.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 17:46

I meant the spelling “Lucie”, Brassica. It’s not even a particularly recognised spelling. think it is awful, sorry if that sounds mean.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 17:49

I‘d say the same about Loocee, or Lousea, or any other nonsense also, just for clarity. Big old meanie that I am.

MamaFlintstone · 04/03/2020 17:50

I like it. I know 2 small ones but also adult Lucys too and it works well for all of them.

MaudebeGonne · 04/03/2020 17:53

The name was ruined for me by my ex MIL, who used to call young women she didn't approve of "Lucy knicker elastic", implying they would drop their drawers for anyoneGrin. She had a quaint way of viewing the world.

DamsonDress · 04/03/2020 17:58

I have a Lucy. I love it but she does not. But I assume that's because she's 14 and the least cool people in the world chose it.

But I hated my name at 14 and would have preferred Scarlett Rainbow Vapour Trail or something. Thankfully my mum had more sense than an obnoxious 14 year old. Grin

Its not an out there name but I think it's beautiful and a name you can't go wrong with.

CalamityJune · 04/03/2020 18:00

I'm due very soon and Lucy is my front runner, closely followed by Alice and Hannah.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/03/2020 18:01

Love Lucy.

A Lucy can be anything she wants.

Flatwhite32 · 04/03/2020 18:02

Love it! It's my DD's name!
