Do you have an Irish connection - it's slightly strange if you don't but I do quite like it as a name. It's a slightly old man sounding name to me, but that's because the ones I know are that sort of age and I also think of Seamus Heaney the poet.

I guess not- honestly OP if you like it then go for it! You're going to get a variety of opinions on here- some will love it, others will hate it. But thats the case with all names anyway so go with what you love. That said, sometimes when a baby arrives they dont "fit" the name so i;d pick but keep a bit of an open mind

Seamus Heaney is my motivation for it, the Heaney's lived in the same village and next farm to my Grandfather, who was always very close to him. I'm also an English teacher, and love his poetry.

I'm in Ireland and I don't think I know a Seamus under the age of 60. I think of it as being very dated.

I don't like it, tbh, but I do like Shay.
