I recently heard the name Cartier for a girl and I quite like it, just want to hear some opinions on it!! no sugarcoating

Did you hear it on Love island Australia? That was the first I time I heard it as a name rather than the brand. It wouldn't be a name I would pick.

SlightlyBonkersQFA · 19/11/2019 21:08

No it is really bad

SecretNutellaFix · 19/11/2019 21:09

A fair few people will ignore the "I" in there and call her Carter.

So, no.

I'm of the opinion that using brand names for childrens' given names is really weird. If you wouldn't call them Asda or Debenham, why call them Cartier or Armani?

KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:10

no I didn't hear it on love island Australia, I haven't watched it

I've never actually heard of the brand either!

What about Catriona?

Similar and easy enough to say.

KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:12

lovely suggestion!

Sister to Tiffany and Bulgari?

LittleDoveLove · 19/11/2019 21:15

Really awful, sorry OP it sounds really tacky - unlike the jewellery brand!

KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:17

as I said before there's no need to apologise, I asked for opinions and really appreciate the feedback!! And I also didn't know it was a brand

Not a fan of baby names after brands, 'coco' after Chanel is the only one I'm a fan of 💁🏼‍♀️, however, my chosen baby boy name (I don't know gender yet) is Carter which is very similar to this, just incase you might like that?

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 19/11/2019 21:23

A YouTuber I watched called Allie Brooks called her daughter Cartia.

Mollie3 · 19/11/2019 21:24

It’s a very rare name and I like how it sounds but not sure it means anything?

stucknoue · 19/11/2019 21:24

Calling your kid after a luxury watch brand is just odd, it's like calling them Rolex! There's thousands of lovely real names that the kid won't be embarrassed to have. There were twins called Chardonnay and merlot at my DD's first school, every parent felt sorry for the girls and thought the mother was just stupid for burdening the girls which such names.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 19/11/2019 21:25

Have you been watching Love Island Australia? There's a Cartier on there. It suits her and is not at all silly on her but I wouldn't use it.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 19/11/2019 21:26

Names don’t need to have a meaning.

KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:27

to everyone saying about it being a brands name, I personally have never heard of the brand. I think it is a really pretty name and don't think it's anything like Chardonnay and merlot?

Some people live in a bubble.

KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:31

what's that supposed to mean? @user1493494961

OP posts:
carly2803 · 19/11/2019 21:35

hahaahha thats a joke right?

chavvy!!!

MaggieFS · 19/11/2019 21:36
Biscuit
KSxx · 19/11/2019 21:36

I don't see how it's a "chavvy" name?

OP posts:
SlightlyBonkersQFA · 19/11/2019 21:39

Id say it might seem that way because it is a luxury brand.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 19/11/2019 21:39

Because “chavs” often name children after luxury brands.

Clangus00 · 19/11/2019 21:40

How do you become a functioning adult and NOT have heard of the brand Cartier?
