Name you loved but it was just too quirky?

Is there a name you didn’t use because it was just too quirky or “out there” but still love?

I loved Starr, Juniper and Skye, DH vetoed! (Don’t even think those are that quirky, tbh.)

Horatio, just love saying the name

Axel Smile

not because it's quirky, it isn't quirky IMO although it's not often used, and not because of axel rose because children born this millennium won't know if him, but because I found out it means armpit in German Grin

Meanings and associations mean a lot and I discounted loads and loads of names because of tragic (eg. Jude) sociopathic (Milo) characters in books or negative associations in songs which have been stuck in my head for decades (Rosie, Alice) ...

Sappho and Archimedes

Well we called our son Fox - our parents hated it and it is definitely quirky but you’d be surprised how quickly it becomes normal!

The names I loved but self-vetoed were Sorensen and Linnet.
The names DH vetoed as being too quirky were Sebastian and Samuel (what the bloody hell is wrong with Samuel?!)
DH’s name choice which I vetoed was Prentice.

Marvin though. I'm not sure why I like it but I do.

I did think Marvin was too out there, and the paranoid Android was also a factor...

Out of the blue DS1 decided about a year ago he wished he was called Marvin...

Artemis, I love it for a boy even though technically it's a girls name, but dp veto'd as a silly name 🤔

Hoppinggreen · 17/08/2019 21:29

Lucifer - it actually means “bringer of life” but for some reason DH wasn’t keen

Hoppinggreen · 17/08/2019 21:30

Bringer of LIGHT that should say

banskuwansku · 17/08/2019 21:30

Gemini and Mirage. I really like those but I wasn't brave enough.

Flamingo84 · 17/08/2019 21:31

DH really loved Dexter.
But I either kept singing the theme to Dexter’s lab (cartoon) or worried he’d turn into Dexter the OCD serial killer Confused

I had a car called Cosmo Grin. It was a VW Beetle.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/08/2019 21:36

I know one of them @Nextphonewontbesamsung. She’s about 30!

DH and I loved Andromeda. But it was just too far out.

Aphra
Fitzwilliam

There were plenty of suggestions from DH that weren't even considered
