Name you loved but it was just too quirky?

Is there a name you didn’t use because it was just too quirky or “out there” but still love?

I loved Starr, Juniper and Skye, DH vetoed! (Don’t even think those are that quirky, tbh.)

I liked Autumn but DH didn't. He liked Summer but I thought it was too out there.

Indigo. I know it's not hugely quirky and I might consider it now if I had another but at the time it seemed a bit too hippy.

Lark for a girl
We ended up having a boy but if he had been a girl we would have opted for our other choice Nova I think as Lark probably was too out there. But I still love it.

Also surprised by Clementine and Dylan on this list. Dylans are ten a penny here, and I know 3 Clementines of various ages.

I think with my children’s names we found a good balance of interesting and uncommon but not worthy of a double take Smile

@IsobelRae23 I bet you are happy every day that you didn’t use Isis!!

Also to the people saying Kizzy, is it short for anything? I vaguely know a Kizzy and always assumed she was actually Keziah or something.

StormcloakNord · 18/08/2019 20:03

I was desperate to call DD Wednesday.

ExDP vetoed it and I still look at her and wish I'd called her Wednesday. Especially since ex is a massive prick anyway.

lotusbell · 18/08/2019 20:07

This might be outing but Exh wanted Lucifer for DS12 which I obviously vetoed mainly due to the fact it would sound ridiculous said in my Lancastrian accent. He also wanted Indigo Wolf, which DS12 now wishes we had picked. His actual name is not very unusual but still unusual enough that there arent that many about.

swizzells2003 · 18/08/2019 20:16

Lysander. I love the name but DH wasn't going for it .......

Loveislandaddict · 18/08/2019 20:17

Trinity - not a name I knew about when pregnant, but heard it recently and really liked it as a name,

inboxmayhem · 18/08/2019 20:33

Ziggy

AlliKaneErikson · 18/08/2019 21:01

Kennedy
Tallis

MaggieFS · 18/08/2019 21:49

@mumofbeagles I also wanted Percy and DH said no because of the bloody pigs. Likewise no Phoebe because of Friends.

I also bottled it on Indigo and Kier.

LesLavandes · 18/08/2019 22:01

Raphael

LesLavandes · 18/08/2019 22:01

And Rafferty

threemonthstogo · 18/08/2019 22:03

Ziggy. Love it but he'd just get "Your mum a Bowie fan then" all his life.

To be clear, I absolutely am :)

usersouthcoast · 18/08/2019 22:07

Snow

IggyAce · 18/08/2019 22:12

Balthazar my dh would have vetoed it anyway.

chocolatecheesecake · 18/08/2019 22:15

Merryn. It's a Cornish name - still hanker after it (but not enough to have a DC3)

Wavyheaded · 18/08/2019 22:19

Raven (girl). God, I still love this name.
