Why can no-one pronounce my daughter's name!?

So my baby girl is almost three months old, we named her Alyssa. Probably about 75% of people have mispronounced her name and it's really starting to get to me now! I don't want her having to go through life having to correct people all the time.
How would you pronounce Alyssa?

BritInUS1 · 13/04/2019 18:55

Smoggle · 13/04/2019 18:55

I'd say Ah-lissa.

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 13/04/2019 18:56

A-Lis-a

margotsdevil · 13/04/2019 18:56

A (as in apple) - liss (as in miss) - a (again as in apple)

So A - liss - a if that makes sense? In Scotland if that makes a difference...

ImHastingsDarling · 13/04/2019 18:56

daisypond · 13/04/2019 18:56

A-LISS-a.

ElspethFlashman · 13/04/2019 18:57

Unless you pronounce it Alice-Ah, I can't think how it could possibly be mispronounced.

iklboo · 13/04/2019 18:57

A-liss (rhymes with kiss) -a

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2019 18:57

I'd pronounce it a-LISS-a, with the emphasis on the middle syllable.

I know an Alyssa, and that's how she says it.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 13/04/2019 18:57

Where I’m from it would be pronounced Al-eee-sha
