Am I setting him up to be teased?

We have an unusual surname, we’re expexting a child, gender unknown. One of my favourite boys names is Maxwell, to be known as Max. My worry is that coupled with our surname, it potentially sounds like a name that he could be teased over, potentially has sexual references? Am I overthinking it and being ridiculous or should I avoid any risk of teasing? The name would be Max Tingle.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fraula · 22/01/2019 22:02

Yep, I'd avoid that one. Sorry!

TokyoSushi · 22/01/2019 22:02

Ooh no, you can't have Max Tingle!

ZogTheOrangeDragon · 22/01/2019 22:03

Hmm Really? You even need to ask?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/01/2019 22:03

Don’t do it

Sexnotgender · 22/01/2019 22:03

Lifetime of teasing!! Please don’t do it.

CherryBathBomb · 22/01/2019 22:04

You cant call him that x

lottiegarbanzo · 22/01/2019 22:04

Obviously he or she should be called Chris.

MrsRhettButler · 22/01/2019 22:05

No sorry, I wouldn't use that.

wafflethewonderdog · 22/01/2019 22:05

Nooooo, poor child

soup00 · 22/01/2019 22:06

Just no! Maybe Chris? I'm just kidding. What a difficult surname to fit a name with. Have you any other ideas?

Frankthebank · 22/01/2019 22:07

Sorry OP. I think you might be.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/01/2019 22:07

Sorry but it sounds like a type of vibrator

anitagreen · 22/01/2019 22:07

Interesting first post op Hmm

Sorry always wanted to do that but no come on that's a ridiculous name

MazDazzle · 22/01/2019 22:10

Maxwell Tingle?

No!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/01/2019 22:12

Bit of a long shot , but Is giving him a different surname an option

Beeziekn33ze · 22/01/2019 22:14

At school there was a Max Payne. I wonder what happened to him!!

GoFiguire · 22/01/2019 22:14

Max is a nice name. I thought you were going to say Tarquinius.

CreakyBlinder · 22/01/2019 22:18

Thing is though, it's Tingle that'll get him teased no matter what his first name is. I wouldn't blink after hearing Max Tingle the first time, any make with Tingle is always going to be a bit of a Shock moment at first. And I say that as someone whose best mates surname sounds very, very close to Cunt Grin

BedraggledBlitz · 22/01/2019 22:18

I think he'd be mocked.

What about Ivor?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/01/2019 22:19

@GoFiguire. You're quite right.
Max in itself is fine. Just a normal everyday name. However paired up with Tingle it could be problematic.

Topseyt · 22/01/2019 22:22

Much as I do like the name Max, I wouldn't pair it with Tingle, I'm afraid.

CoastalLife · 22/01/2019 22:22

Ooof. That's a difficult surname to work with but I think, with the possible exception of Chris, you might be looking at the worst first name to combine with it. Max Tingle sounds like it should come in a tube from Ann Summers 😳

Sorry, OP. You'll find a great name I'm sure Flowers

Needingwine · 22/01/2019 22:26

You’re all confirming what I thought ☹️ Back to the drawing board!

Finfintytint · 22/01/2019 22:27

If it's a girl, would you consider Minnie Tingle?

Heyha · 22/01/2019 22:28

There's names that lesson it though, I immediately thought Elliot Tingle (double t sort of reduces it I think, makes it sound like surname is Ingle) or for example a classic name like Joseph Tingle doesn't sound especially comedy either. It'll just be trial and error I guess but I think you'll be able to find a few that work for you 🙂
