Am I setting him up to be teased?

We have an unusual surname, we’re expexting a child, gender unknown. One of my favourite boys names is Maxwell, to be known as Max. My worry is that coupled with our surname, it potentially sounds like a name that he could be teased over, potentially has sexual references? Am I overthinking it and being ridiculous or should I avoid any risk of teasing? The name would be Max Tingle.

What does Tetingle mean then? Never heard of it? Confused

Choosinganame · 26/01/2019 20:35

I really like your surname OP. It's fun and memorable. I would love to meet a Mr Tingle, better than being a Smith or a Jones.

Dex Tingle sounds like some kind of prescription only cream! [Grin] Op I think most names are fine. What else is on your shortlist?

Needingwine · 26/01/2019 21:12

Thank you choosinganame! ☺️ I like it too, have zero intention or desire to change the surname. Tingle is staying. I’ve had the name for 5 years and it’s done me no harm and plenty of nieces and nephews are surviving with it 😉. Think the classic names (Edward, Alexander etc) work best with it so sure we will find something. X

I think Fanny Tingje has a certain ring to it.

In all honesty I'd go for Maxwell. It's a nice name.

SpeedyBojangles · 26/01/2019 21:26

I actually like the surname Tingle, it just sounds nice.

I went to school with a William Anchor. There was teasing.

Boys names - Sebastian, Elliot, Joseph
Girls - Claudia, Emmeline, Nancy

Sebastian Tingle! That's a brilliant name! He sounds like a dentist I think.

mikado1 · 26/01/2019 22:43

Claudia, Sebastian and Elliot are great names.

lilpeach · 26/01/2019 22:43

Minnie Tingle ohhhhh I'm howling Finfintytint !! Hahaha!

PoutySprout · 26/01/2019 22:45

El Tingle sounds like a Mexican bandit.

lilpeach · 26/01/2019 22:46

Tingle is a GREAT surname. It's a bit geeky but if anyone every played Zelda there is a little character called Mr Tingle and he is so cute.

Elliot and Emmeline are my favourites. And how cute to have a brother sister combo with those names?

Nancy I wasn’t sure worked so think that’s now off the list too! This is good, we’re making progress!

I don't get the reference. Maximum tingle, is that it? That's really reaching isn't it. I'd go for the name you like.

SuperSuperSuper · 26/01/2019 23:05

Sebastian Tingle is fab! I also like the suggestion of Zach.

SemperIdem · 26/01/2019 23:11

If it helps, surname aside, the only Maxwell I know is late 20’s and detests his name.

lottiegarbanzo · 26/01/2019 23:27

The only one I'm not so sure about is Elliot, because of the clashing consonants. You have to pause between Elliot and Tingle, or it merges into Ellio-Tingle / Elliot-Ingle.

The others flow nicely, the other two boy names especially. I'd favour Sebastian and Emmeline.

Omg I spat my tea out 😂😂😂☕☕☕☕

FlipF · 27/01/2019 00:44

OP, don't worry about the rude comments about Tingle. It's fine, i quite Kim it. I would put a nice strong first name with it.

I think tingle is a great name and works especially well with Sebastian and Emmeline.

I did think Max Tingle sounded a little like a condom advert.
