Will my daughter hate me if I call her...

June Muriel Nesta?

Just asking for a bit of fun, that will most likely be her name. I'm booked in for a section on Monday so we're pretty settled on this name just wanted to canvas some opinions. June is personal for me and my husband (met and married, my birthday, both our star signs Gemini and Cancer are in June and we found out she is a girl in June), Muriel is the guardian angel of the month of June (and Cancer star sign) and my husband's late grandmother's name and Nesta is my late great grandmother's name.

Why on earth would she hate you?

Polkasq · 10/11/2018 13:07

If you're already settled on the name why does it matter what anyone here thinks? Most people won't say anything negative if you've already chosen.

ChimesOnSundayMorn · 10/11/2018 13:07

I love June.

VimFuego101 · 10/11/2018 13:08

I imagine there's quite a few baby Junes appearing following the Handmaids Tale on TV. I like it. Or what about Juno?

FissionChips · 10/11/2018 13:10

They’re all ugly names, really ugly names. I can’t quite believe this post is real.

Chathamhouserules · 10/11/2018 13:11

I like June

dw23 · 10/11/2018 13:13

I'm not being entirely serious, just picturing her as a stroppy teen, why did you call me these old lady names 😂 my family hate the name June as well which is unfortunate but we love it. Originally I liked it from Handmaid's Tale which I studied in school but it has taken on new significance for us. My DH not keen on Juno but I like it.

@FissionChips lmao yeah I thought some would have that reaction 😅

Yes she would. I would. June is bad enough but then to call her Muriel too????

donquixotedelamancha · 10/11/2018 13:15

Why on earth would she hate you?

She thinks her daughter may blame her for all the piss taking.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/11/2018 13:16

I guess so. At least give her one decent name. Poor kid Shock

Hoping that this is a wind up.

Givemeallyourcucumber · 10/11/2018 13:16

Bloody brilliant name! I love it.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/11/2018 13:17

You love it? Really. It doesn't go for a start and every name is dreadful. What's to love?

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 10/11/2018 13:17

I'd have thought Handmaid's Tale would make June a very cool name nowadays.

Creepyexgirlfriend · 10/11/2018 13:17

I like Nesta.

Racecardriver · 10/11/2018 13:17

Seems perfectly fine to me. Muerial does make me think of muerials wedding though but it’s only a middle name. June is nice although I actually prefer nesta

donquixotedelamancha · 10/11/2018 13:17

Bloody brilliant name! I love it.

Some people are bloody cruel. This might be genuine.

CountFosco · 10/11/2018 13:17

All perfectly reasonable names. June is lovely actually and her middle names are both family names. I approve!

DramaAlpaca · 10/11/2018 13:19

June is just about OK, Juno is better.

I don't have enough words for how awful the other two are. Muriel in particular is just so dreary.

Nagsnovalballs · 10/11/2018 13:19

Muriel is hideous. The only one I know hates it as her middle name

June nesta or nesta June is delightful.

dw23 · 10/11/2018 13:20

Well at least she will develop a thick skin based off these comments 😂 I'm being deadly serious 😅

OP posts:
Devillanelle · 10/11/2018 13:20

June is a bit middle class great auntie now but maybe in time it'll be the new Ruby or Maisie? 😬

Littlechocola · 10/11/2018 13:20

I like it
I don’t understand the anger?

blueskiesandforests · 10/11/2018 13:22

It's a bit odd that she has two June based names and is due in November... But nobody will know Muriel has anything to do with the month of June.

I can't see why she'd hate you really - there are worse names.

My dd often expresses disappointment that her name doesn't have more personal meaning and that we simply picked her name because we liked it and it works in all the languages of the extended family. She wants a name laden with significance and stories - for some reason she knows stories behind most of her friends names. You certainly tick that box though I suspect my DD and her mates are a bit odd and it's not that common a teenage priority !

FissionChips · 10/11/2018 13:22

There’s no anger, people just can’t believe someone would land such awful names on a child.

There are millions of names, why pick the ugly?
