Will my daughter hate me if I call her...

June Muriel Nesta?

Just asking for a bit of fun, that will most likely be her name. I'm booked in for a section on Monday so we're pretty settled on this name just wanted to canvas some opinions. June is personal for me and my husband (met and married, my birthday, both our star signs Gemini and Cancer are in June and we found out she is a girl in June), Muriel is the guardian angel of the month of June (and Cancer star sign) and my husband's late grandmother's name and Nesta is my late great grandmother's name.

@LaPufalina. I've been saying the name over and over in my end (and on a Saturday night, too!). I reckon that J I nesta or J E nesta is probably even less offensive on the ear.

hoping2018 · 10/11/2018 23:30

I really like June and feels quite on trend with the current style of old fashioned names but also not common.

I don't like Muriel or nesta but I do think middle names should have meaning and like that they're family names. She'll never get known by these names so I don't think them being "uncool" matters at all.

Good luck with your c section and ignore the negative comments - in my opinion your name is a thousand times better than other suggestions I've seen and everyone else having the same name!!! (Evie,Ella,Amelia,Ava,ivy, etc)

In a fit of what I can only imagine was hormones I called my daughter what mumsnet has described as 'the most chavvy girls name'. She's 16 and appears to love me regardless Smile

moredoll · 11/11/2018 03:13

Much prefer Juno to June. Don't like Muriel at all, not one little bit, sorry. Meriels fine. Nesta, not sure.

Rachelover40 · 11/11/2018 05:13

Sounds ghastly.

noitsachicken · 11/11/2018 05:34

I agree that you can only use a month of season name if that’s when they were born. April, June, Summer, Autumn all odd if used at other times of the year.
World you name your winter born baby Summer?
Muriel and Nesta are ugly names, just use one of them if you really need to.

lljkk · 11/11/2018 05:47

Muriel is beautiful, imho.
June is fine, but I think I'd use Muriel instead coz so pretty in its own right, prettier than June.

RCohle · 11/11/2018 05:50

I think it's a l

RCohle · 11/11/2018 05:52

Sorry, posted too soon.

I think it's a lovely name for a 70 year old.

I agree that naming your daughter something that's laden with meaning for you is a bit odd. Why not give her a name that reflects her own birthday month rather than yours?

Shockers · 11/11/2018 06:01

‘June... are you Gemini or Cancer?’

‘Neither, I was born in November.’

I’d be inclined to drop June altogether and name her Nesta Muriel.

I actually quite like Nesta Muriel; it doesn’t sound as daft as June Muriel Nesta.

CountFosco · 11/11/2018 07:57

Just call her: lily-May Olivia.
She’ll love you for it

I have a very popular name from the time of my birth. There were 4 of us in my year at school. I did not love my parents for it. My kids have very unusual first names, and family names for middle names.

Fantastiqueangel · 11/11/2018 08:08

June is not the worst name in the world, but far from the best. Agree with others. It's not your name, so it shouldn't be about you. You are choosing a name on behalf of the child, so you need to consider them. What name is going to fit well through their whole life?

Andtheresaw · 11/11/2018 08:12

Go for it OP.
They are all nice names.

bellinisurge · 11/11/2018 08:20

June's a lovely name. But if you lather it with astrology guff, that's not reasonable. Because I don't believe in astrology. But you do so, you do you.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 11/11/2018 08:23

Still think this is a wind up.

thegreylady · 11/11/2018 11:56

Muriel is one of the few girls’ names I dislike but June and Nesta are lovely.
A few years ago an acquaintance called her baby Ada Muriel and I though ‘poor little girl’.

nicollette · 11/11/2018 13:23

I have a sister called Ada-May.
After her grandmother, I feel these names can be so timeless!

MrsSteveMcDonald · 11/11/2018 13:43

Am I the only one that reads Nesta and adds the word tables on the end?

ReginaPhalange89 · 11/11/2018 16:38

Don't like any of the 3 names sorry ! Juno is far nicer , and quirkier, she'd probably like having that name when she's older. June is an old lady name to me, paired with Muriel makes it even older sounding

pickingdaisies · 11/11/2018 16:41

In answer to your question, yes she will. HTH. Grin

Mishappening · 11/11/2018 16:43

Can't see anything wrong with these names. You will probably set trend.

GreenIce · 11/11/2018 16:53

Awful awful frumpy names and there are so many nice girls names...but I also think this is a wind up.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 11/11/2018 16:56

I've met a few baby June's recently, I think it's becoming quite popular.

Both middle names are horrible, but how often do you really use middle names anyway.

Frustratedmum78 · 11/11/2018 16:58

Don’t like any of those names, and they don’t sound right together. Can you at least give her one nice name?

wewillrememberthem · 11/11/2018 17:39

To me they are names that don't flow and go well together. Personally I wouldn't want to be called after a month in the year.
