WIBU to call my baby Caspian?

I'm really struggling to find boys names that I like. We have a great list of girls names and basically nothing on the boys list.

DP has descended into madness and is just reading names from the most popular list - but I don't want to call my baby Oliver, Muhammad or Charlie.

I like Caspian but every time I mention this irl I get "like the sea?" Hmm

Maybe I should stop asking for opinions but I want to know what the NM jury thinks.

Call your kid whatever you like. Caspian is a very bold name but I like it

BastardGoDarkly · 04/10/2018 09:59

I love it.

Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's git one.

Does your husband like it?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 04/10/2018 09:59

Oh I was thinking “the friendly ghost”...

BigSandyBalls2015 · 04/10/2018 10:02

I was thinking more of a middle aged man in mustard cords and a red cravat.

Justgivemeasoddingname · 04/10/2018 10:04

To which you answer yes, the same name. Like girls can be called India, same name as the country. Like Elvis Costello had the same first name as Elvis Presley. It's ok.

Bipbopbee · 04/10/2018 10:05

The friendly ghost is Casper Grin
My friends DS is called Caspar, they shorten it to Cas. Not convinced with Caspian though sorry OP. Only heard it from the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe series; Prince Caspian

Ah that's Casper. I could never use that name as I had a crush on the ghost when I was growing up for far too long

My DS is Casper, I really liked Caspian, but wasn't quite brave enough. We were going to call him Cass for short, but we literally never do, he's always just Casper.

worstmotherintheworld · 04/10/2018 10:08

I like it, it sounds distinguished but quite cool and modern too!

GinIsIn · 04/10/2018 10:09

I think of Prince Caspian, which is a good thing as I loved the Chronicles of Narnia!

Fashionista101 · 04/10/2018 10:11

Ahhh I love that name! We love original and unusual names in our house! X

Aethelthryth · 04/10/2018 10:11

How about Cassian or Caspar? Caspian sounds like an amalgam of the two

golddustwomen · 04/10/2018 10:12

Personally I wouldn't, we have a caspian pizza place round here so just makes me think of that. If you love it then go for it!

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 04/10/2018 10:13

I rather like it. A bit “posh” but not egregiously so. And the fact that you can say “like the sea” will help with spelling. Caz is a good useable nickname.

AfterSchoolWorry · 04/10/2018 10:13

It's great! Do it!

Runmescript · 04/10/2018 10:14

Which names have you used/considered?

OP posts:
StarfishSandwich · 04/10/2018 10:14

I’m a big fan of Caspian!

thurmanmerman · 04/10/2018 10:15

No contribution whatsover sorry but Grin Grin at you having a crush on Casper the friendly ghost OP!!

Marmite27 · 04/10/2018 10:16

I automatically think captain of the Dawn Treader (Narnia), but I quite like it. I like it better than Caspar.

bakebakebake · 04/10/2018 10:17

Do it! I like the name.

I think of Prince Caspian from Narnia.

Runmescript · 04/10/2018 10:17

Aethelthryth

How about Cassian or Caspar?

Cassian sounds too much like Cassie (on our girls list - Cassandra) and I had a crush on Casper the friendly ghost when I was a kid so feel weird about using that! Blush

randomsabreuse · 04/10/2018 10:18

Like it. If you both like it go for it. Know one and he's a nice kid too - which always helps with names!

bigglewig · 04/10/2018 10:18

It's gorgeous! Smile

noseoftralee · 04/10/2018 10:20

Fab name.

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/10/2018 11:19

I really like it and don't think it's too out there, especially with the growing popularity of Casper.
