Funky middle name for Mary

Hello!

Mary as first name- it's traditional, iconic feminine name, a little austere and old fashioned maybe, so we'd like a really interesting (funky!) middle name to go with it - (also lots of names after Mary sound like a two parter- IE Mary Beth, Mary Kate) nothing biblical we already have that covered

So far we only have three
Mary Alba
Mary Summer
Mary Freya

I also like
Mary Rose
The fact it's a ship makes me smile

Surname is long but very pretty/ girly so we can take something unusual in the middle but shorter is better.

Any more suggestions??

Mary Alba is nice.

How about a Rose variant - Mary Rosalind, Mary Rosa, Mary Rosalba, Mary Rosalie.

Really like pp’s suggestions of Mary Quinn. Or Mary Josephine, and she could be MJ - totally funky!!

Mary Topaz? I've always wanted to use that as a middle name after the character from I Capture to Castle.

Not keen on Mary Rose, all it takes is one kid who knows their history and she's saddled with the 'going down' remarks.

Probably really outing but my SIL is Mary Storm Surname.

It’s a family maiden name which we are also looking to encorporate.

I love Mary Rose
it works as one name as well as two, so if there were ever two Marys she could use it

its got a good Tudor history too

Isn't Mary Rose the name in that kids rhyme from years ago?

Mary Rose sat on a pin, Mary Rose.

Was used by bullies when putting thumbtacks on kids seats and stuff. So I wouldn't, it's not very common now but it would only take one child having read a book where it's mentioned to cause problems.

Mary Xenia

TheDowagerCuntess · 05/09/2018 19:42

No - not Mary Rose! You can do much better. Both lovely names by themselves, but Rose is such a default, 'filler' middle name.

There are some far more interesting names on this thread!

cherry1012 · 05/09/2018 19:44

Alberta or Scarlett ❤️❤️

PersisFord · 05/09/2018 19:44

Redteapot67 · 05/09/2018 19:49

The Mary rose sank and lots of people died - why would you call your child after that?!
It’s like calling them titanic

MeyMary · 05/09/2018 19:51

@PersisFord

Oh, an X name would be nice. (Or one that ends in O...)

Mary Xanthippe?

Kewqueue · 05/09/2018 19:51

It’s like calling them titanic
Grin Not really true is it? Mary and Rose are both proper names. I don't know any baby Titanics!
