Honest opinions on Edith please...

Not that we should be adding to our ridiculously long girl's list but I've been liking it a lot recently... I'm curious to know how well received it is. Thanks!

I love the nn Edie, but cannot stand Edith. It just sounds really harsh to me

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 20/08/2018 11:30

Hate it

villainousbroodmare · 20/08/2018 11:32

Hate it, sorry. Ranks with Mabel and Agatha.

Frosty6611 · 20/08/2018 11:32

It’s literally my worst girls name, think it’s awful!
I do like a lot of ‘old women’ names though but just hate that one for some reason

GreenMeerkat · 20/08/2018 11:47

I like Edith. Can't stand Edie though.

pixieloux · 20/08/2018 12:42

A mixed bag... I was expecting more negative than positive to be honest but it seems to have gone the other way. I don't know if it's too 'old lady' alongside our LO's names. Imogen, Margot and Penelope are probably on the perfect sort of level to fit in with them, from our list.

Penelope is lovely!

Zoflorabore · 20/08/2018 13:16

Sorry but I hate it.

NancyJoan · 20/08/2018 13:22

It's lovely. There are lots of Pheobes and Imogens.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 20/08/2018 16:40

I absolutely LOVE Penelope and Margot. I also like Edith Smile

TatianaLarina · 20/08/2018 16:46

Can’t stand it. I like old school names but that one is dowdy, ugly and unstylish.

However Beatrice, Imogen, Margot, Phoebe and Cecilia are all fabulous. I would choose one of those.

pootlepootle · 20/08/2018 16:56

absolutely love it.

Lynne1Cat · 20/08/2018 17:11

It reminds me of little old ladies I've known (I used to be a carer)

almondsareforevermore · 20/08/2018 17:33

Say it aloud five times. Harsh and ugly sound.

constantlywingingit · 20/08/2018 17:33

Love it

constantlywingingit · 20/08/2018 17:34

DS2 would have been an Edith or a Mable

toothtruth · 20/08/2018 17:35

I LOVE it. Its my grandmothers name and also the name of a writer I like. I also love the Cult song 'Eeeedieee dogs lay at your feeet Edie!! an angel with a broken wing...' etc etc

But its very popular at least round here because I know 3 under 4s with that name!! So sadly crossed it off our list

Mummyme87 · 20/08/2018 18:06

It’s my girl name (I have two boys though). Love it

Wobblybitts · 20/08/2018 18:07

Love it

Dljlr · 20/08/2018 18:08

Awful, so awful. Was my nan's name. Hate Edie too.

N0bodysM0t · 20/08/2018 18:27

I love it!

I like Edie as well.

herecomesthsun · 20/08/2018 18:44

Edie Macready (from Tobermory)
Edith would fit right in with all the Florences and Violets and Lilies and Roses.

daisypond · 20/08/2018 18:50

I think Edith has been made more cool due to Edith Bowman the DJ. I did think it dowdy when I first heard her name several years ago, but it now seems a good strong name. I like it. It fits in with other Anglo-Saxony-type names like Matilda. Edie is horrid, though. It's just too cutesy and bland.

MrsMint · 20/08/2018 18:55

Good choice: very stylish and a classic English name.

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/08/2018 18:55

Elodie is my number 2 fave name 💜💜💜, if I'm ever so lucky 💔
