Also I did say you don't have to actively listen to something to be exposed to it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 04/03/2018 19:41

Are you drunk, myname? You seem to have struggled to read my post, if you are left questioning my concept of time.

As to you being a musician, of course you are. So am I! Wink

IamPickleRick · 04/03/2018 20:00

How do you think people are aware of MUSICIANS other than through their MUSIC?

I’ve answered this a few times. I gave The Simpson’s as an example a few posts ago, which you poo-poo-ed despite it still being on every night, but there are others like tv chat shows, films, magazines, the news, hearing their names from other people.

You’re a musician? Are you Suzanne Vega? Because you spelled the name of her second best song incorrectly so I don’t trust your music credentials tbh.

IamPickleRick · 04/03/2018 20:09

David Bowie reads the intro to the Snowman every Christmas as well, so who is daft now...

you were ten when they broke up Francis.

Since when is 20 not young? Is it old? In the 60's 20 wasn't even adult, you had to be 21.

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 20:55

at best you were ten that is.

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 20:56

btw, I haven't spelled it wrong!

witherwings · 04/03/2018 21:06

You can only get away with it if you’re a celebrity.

SoupDragon · 04/03/2018 21:10

I haven't spelled it wrong!

The song is Luka.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 04/03/2018 21:13

Suzanne Vega spelt it Luka, actually.

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 21:13

Thanks for that but my name actually is Luca. People make references to it all the time, hence the user name.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 04/03/2018 21:14

NOwie...

cashmoney7 · 04/03/2018 21:19

Thanks for that but my name actually is Luca.

Suppose it is..

IamPickleRick · 04/03/2018 21:20

Do people make reference to it all the time? Funny that, as that’s exactly what we are saying about Bowie but you are adamant no one will know who he is! He’s not as well known as Suzanne Vega though, obviously Hmm

And that, is exactly how people learn of a musician without hearing their music. Boom.

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 21:23

No, the people who mention it know the song. And that never includes children, thereby proving my point entirely!

DullAndOld · 04/03/2018 21:24

I used to know a Luca, he was an Italian boy...

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 21:27

it's actually pronounced Lootsa as we are Croation originally but nobody gets it so I gave up long ago and only my family say it properly. To everyone else I just answer to Luca, its easier!

mynameisLuca · 04/03/2018 21:28

*croatian

Mymycherrypie · 04/03/2018 21:32

thereby proving my point entirely!

Not quite 😂

IamPickleRick · 04/03/2018 21:40

I bring you, Homer Simpson, popularising that very song.

noeffingidea · 05/03/2018 00:17

Go for it, OP. Have you thought of middle names? How about Bowie Jagger. They go together really well.

TournesoletLavande · 05/03/2018 07:55

I think it's good sense to avoid using names that are blatantly obviously those of rock stars, sports star or celebrities, so that people only think of that person when they hear your child's name.

(so that's no to things like Marley, Demi, Rihanna, Beyonce, Keegan, Jagger, Lennon, Tyson, Kanye, Bowie, etc)

Also don't give your child a name that is blatantly and obviously the same name used by a high profile rock star, sports star or celebrity for their own child, unless it was already a bone fide name already used by plenty of other people, so no automatic association would be made.

So Harper or Penelope would be fine. Brooklyn, North, West or Apple would not be fine at all.

mydogisthebest · 05/03/2018 11:49

I am surprised that lots of people comment on your name being Luca as in the song. I named a dog Luka after the song and when people asked his name I would say "Luka as in the Suzanne Vega song" only to be met almost always with totally blank looks or "who"
