Everyone hates my baby names!

I'm having a little girl in April and I really want to call her Peaches. But nobody else can stand the name.

I'm quite heartbroken because I love it 😭 her middle name is going to be Pelagie and I think we're going with Polly as her first name but most people don't like that either.

I can't win 🙄 might just call her peaches and everyone else can suck it up.

Love the name Polly, I would go with that.

PaperBagPrincesa · 24/12/2017 12:45

Not a fan.
Use it as a baby nick name.

Also, Peaches Geldof :-/

PaperBagPrincesa · 24/12/2017 12:46

Love Polly

Popchyk · 24/12/2017 12:47

Polly is lovely.

Peaches is too twee for me really. For celebs only, I think.

ChocolateCrunch · 24/12/2017 12:50

Polly is a lovely name

Much prefer Polly.
Why Pelagie though? Cultural reasons?

DPotter · 24/12/2017 12:54

Polly is fine.

Peaches is fine for a baby and toddler - not so sure about a teenager / adult.

Am I the only person who thinks a warning should be printed on POAS boxes, strongly warning against discussing potential names with anyone other than partner...............

bridgetjonesbutworse · 24/12/2017 12:57

Pelagie is my grandmothers name

Peaches- I've just always loved the name and thought if I had a daughter that's what I'd call her 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know a couple of other Peaches so the name has never been particularly unusual to me or had celeb connotations

Wolfiefan · 24/12/2017 12:58

I would think of a name that goes better with Pelagie then TBH.

kaytee87 · 24/12/2017 12:59

You actually personally know a couple of girls called peaches? Why not go for something different from them then?

Weezol · 24/12/2017 12:59

Call her Polly but use Peaches as a nickname.

chipsandpeas · 24/12/2017 13:02

so your daughters initials will be PP whatever

overnightangel · 24/12/2017 13:05

I’m guessing you live in London

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 24/12/2017 13:07

Name her Polly (gorgeous name) and use peaches as a nickname. I call my daughter Plum it is nothing like her actual name.
How do you pronounce Pelagie?

bridgetjonesbutworse · 24/12/2017 13:22

West Mids actually 🙄

Pelagie is pronounced "pel-ah-gee"

Polly is a great name.

Why you would want to name your baby after a celebrity’s DD who died tragically I don’t know.

I’d avoid celeb offspring names like the plague personally.

tatree · 24/12/2017 13:33

I love peaches! My daughter has a really unusual name which didn’t get received well at first, now everyone says how much they love it and couldn’t imagine her as anything else. Be brave!

Sevendown · 24/12/2017 14:13

Tbf peaches sounds better than Peach!

Calling dcs after fruit is really no more bizarre than calling them after flowers or jewels so if daisy, rose, ruby and pearl are ok there is nothing inherently worse about peaches.

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 24/12/2017 14:16

I actually really like peaches and think it goes with the second name

Littlechocola · 24/12/2017 14:17

I love both Peaches and Polly.
You will never please everyone. She’s your baby, you decide.

kelly14 · 24/12/2017 14:39

I like peaches and your unusual middle name, i think you should use both as planned. There will always be People who don’t like a name but it’s not their name so don’t give it a thought. X

greendale17 · 24/12/2017 14:53

Peaches sounds terrible

IVflytrap · 24/12/2017 14:58

I like Polly a lot. Pelagie is lovely and elegant, and I love the meaning. Peaches is cute as a nickname, but used as an official name would make me think that you were overly influenced by the Geldofs, and celebrities in general. I don't see why you couldn't name your daughter Polly and use Peaches as a nickname: "Polly Peaches" sounds cute for a little girl. Smile

RavenWings · 24/12/2017 15:04

Peaches is just awful. Polly reminds me of a parrot, but that's much better than having a child forever associated with a fruit/dead daughter of a celeb.
