Everyone hates my baby names!

I'm having a little girl in April and I really want to call her Peaches. But nobody else can stand the name.

I'm quite heartbroken because I love it 😭 her middle name is going to be Pelagie and I think we're going with Polly as her first name but most people don't like that either.

I can't win 🙄 might just call her peaches and everyone else can suck it up.

Yes James = more than one Jame Grin

PinkAvocado · 28/12/2017 19:31

James is the plural of what? Grin Are you mistaking words that end in an s with plurals? Confused

BertrandRussell · 28/12/2017 19:33

Iris- more than one Iri.....

happylantern · 28/12/2017 19:39

I quite like Peaches and Pelagie is great to honour your DGM Smile

She's your baby girl, name her whatever you like Smile

Wishfulmakeupping · 28/12/2017 19:44

Never tell people baby name choice we did with dd both my dsis and mil were quite vocal about not liking the name- used it anyway as we love it but was awkward knowing they didn't so with ds told everyone we hadn't decided and then announced he name when he was born knowing that people wouldn't be openly rude once the baby's name had been announced.

bluelarkx · 31/12/2017 15:32

Peaches as a nickname, polly is such a nice name x

Ham69 · 31/12/2017 15:52

Polly is a lovely name and Peaches is a cute nickname which would work.

Eolian · 31/12/2017 16:04

Pelagie is a lovely name. GrinGrin at the poster thinking James is plural!!! Does that mean 'bus' and 'yes' are plural too?

CormoranStrike · 01/01/2018 11:10

POlly is lovely, and if you like P names, Penny is great.

dustarr73 · 01/01/2018 22:18

If you like it go for it.Its your child.I like it but maybe have another middle name to break up the 2 ps.

CheekyPearl · 01/01/2018 22:42

Go with your heart! Don't worry about what other people think! People will be judgy regardless. I always regret things that I have only changed because other people have made a comment. Stick to your guns and congratulations! :)

Notso · 01/01/2018 23:01

Peaches is one of those names I love but would hate to be called.

BakedBeans47 · 03/01/2018 13:03

Peaches is dreadful IMO but your baby, your decision don’t be put off by others

BuzzKillington · 03/01/2018 13:06

James is a very popular name and is plural

PMSL!

Peaches is an hideous name to hassle someone with. She will be an adult one day.

alittlehelp · 03/01/2018 13:08

Pearl?

lljkk · 03/01/2018 13:17

I like Peaches a lot better than Polly.
Peaches for me is the feisty daughter in Ice Age.
Call her what you like & ignore MN.

EastDulwichWife · 04/01/2018 17:26

What about Pelagie Peaches? You can still call her Peaches if you fancy, that way. Pelagie is a lovely name.

Jedigirl29 · 05/01/2018 10:55

Polly is fine but I feel that Peaches would be fine for a child but when she gets to her teens she will get picked on. Maybe Peaches for a middle name 😁

LittleMe03 · 05/01/2018 11:10

Call her Peaches if that's what you are your DP would like to call her. Your baby Smile

WildRosesGrow · 05/01/2018 11:21

Polly makes me think of a parrot or 'Polly put the kettle on'. Peaches is cute but what if your daughter doesn't always want to be cute?

You could have Pelagie as her formal name but call her Peaches as a nickname. Then she would have the choice when she is older.

But if you and your partner love the names, then it doesn't matter what other people think, go for it. Everyone will get used to it and there are so many unusual names around that she won't stand out unduly.

GingerbreadMa · 05/01/2018 11:29

Im sorry I just think it sounds like a stripper name.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/01/2018 11:36

I'd prefer a prime minister called Peaches than one called Theresa

Wouldn't we all, but that's a pretty low bar. It's like saying I'll call my son bananas because it's better than Adolf.

Peaches Pelagie will get propper picked on at primary. Polly will get less grief, but will be asked whether her dolly is sick, sick, sick a lot.

James is a very popular name and is plural
Traditionally it's spelt Jame's and means owned by Jame in ancient idiot.

AnakinCyberwalker · 05/01/2018 11:37

Pelagie is so beautiful. I would use that as first name.

Mightybanhammer · 06/01/2018 00:31

Polly Peachum! Grin
Someone got there first surely?

Ohmyfuck · 06/01/2018 00:33

Polly is a lovely name. :-)
