Everyone hates my baby names!

I'm having a little girl in April and I really want to call her Peaches. But nobody else can stand the name.

I'm quite heartbroken because I love it 😭 her middle name is going to be Pelagie and I think we're going with Polly as her first name but most people don't like that either.

I can't win 🙄 might just call her peaches and everyone else can suck it up.

The first rule of naming a baby is don't tell anyone before baby is born! If you love a Peaches, then choose it.

EmmaLou3422 · 24/12/2017 15:05

I've come across a lot worse names than peaches. If you want to call her peaches then call her peaches. It's no one else's business.

Petalflowers · 24/12/2017 15:08

Raven - the Peaches Geldof connection will fade over time, and most people won't even think about it.

MrsMarigold · 24/12/2017 15:13

Peachy?

Ummmmgogo · 24/12/2017 15:39

peaches is nicer than Polly imo. or maybe use all three? Polly Peaches Pelagie Jones (use your real surname!)

cherrycola2004 · 24/12/2017 15:53

Name her want you like
I prefer Polly

BackforGood · 24/12/2017 15:57

Not really keen on Polly (makes me want to sing 'Polly put the kettle on'), but compared with the other two, it's a great name........ was that the plan ? Wink

XmasTreeOhXmasTree · 24/12/2017 15:59

Go with what you want.

This is your baby.

I quite like Peaches.

XmasTreeOhXmasTree · 24/12/2017 16:01

Peaches is much nicer than Polly.

For the poster saying associating a name with fruit, what about names associated with plants, trees, places etc?

notangelinajolie · 24/12/2017 16:12

Name her Polly. I think that is a lovely name.

But you can still call her Peaches - mummies have all kinds of secret lovely names for their babies.

Heratnumber7 · 24/12/2017 16:22

Pelagie?? I've never heard of that. What's its origin?

Crabbo · 24/12/2017 16:23

I like it, I wouldn’t think it was weird if I met a Peaches, but then there are some fairly unusual names where I live. If it’s the name you really love then use it, other people can name their children what they like but this is your baby.

Heratnumber7 · 24/12/2017 16:24

I googled. They are Italian islands 😃

Hoppinggreen · 24/12/2017 16:27

Why the plural? Presumably there is only one of her
People do use flower names but singular so Rose rather then Roses
I don’t like it but it’s your baby

stellarfox · 24/12/2017 16:28

What about Penelope nicknamed Peaches? I don’t dislike Peaches but I don’t think I would use it as a formal name. Penelope Pelagie is rather cute!

gingerclementine · 24/12/2017 16:33

Pelagie is a gorgeous name. You could even use Polly as a nickname for it.

Mugshotzforlunch · 24/12/2017 16:33

I know a honey so why not peaches.
Not my taste but so what call your dd what you like.

RavenWings · 24/12/2017 16:36

Raven - the Peaches Geldof connection will fade over time, and most people won't even think about it.

I get that. Still a shite name imo.

lizzieoak · 24/12/2017 16:40

Polly is a lovely name. I don’t hate Peaches, but I do think of Peaches Geldof, so it seems an unhappy name. I like the name Plum though!

Raisedbyguineapigs · 24/12/2017 16:45

The Peaches Geldof connection may face by the time the baby is an adult but the op will have to spend her baby's babyhood with people wondering why she named her baby after a celebrity heroin addict.

SunshineTheMonkey · 24/12/2017 16:57

I know a Peaches. She's the quietest little thing ever and it doesn't suit her at all.

She'll change it when she can I'm sure

MotherCupboard · 24/12/2017 17:03

She's your baby name her what you want. Peaches flows better with pelagie imo. Fil kicked off after my dc were born cos none of them were named after him. Someone always has an opinion!

Patal · 24/12/2017 17:10

I really like Peaches Pelagie. It’s a name you love and a middle name with sentimental value so I say just go for it!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/12/2017 17:11

Never heard of Pelagie before, I like it, Polly is nice too.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 24/12/2017 17:14

Where does the name Pelagie come from?
