Baby girl name Nancy

Everyone hates the name but I love it, what do you all think?

Is this from the netflix show 'Stranger Things?'

The name is OK, but I have to say I would not give this name to a little baby girl of mine.

Casmama · 16/12/2017 15:11

I think Sienna is lovely, not so keen on Nancy- sounds a bit old ladyish to me.

BlazingPaddles · 16/12/2017 15:13

It's fine. Unless you've actively canvassed their thoughts I think it's a bit rude that people are being so free with their opinions?

If I meet a baby with a name I think is really awful I keep that thought to myself! None of my business.

flyingtnx · 16/12/2017 15:13

Yes it is from stranger things the teenage daughter is called Nancy!

Nancy is way nicer than sienna!

BlazingPaddles · 16/12/2017 15:14

Ah the Nancy is yet to be born. That makes their freely given opinions less rude.

Growingboys · 16/12/2017 15:14

Love it. Go for it.

Ladydepp · 16/12/2017 15:14

Lovely name!

ALemonyPea · 16/12/2017 15:15

I think it’s lovely. Tell everyone something else, then use Nancy if you still like it when your child is born.

We told everyone DC3 was going to be called Raoul because didn’t want any negative comments in the name we had chosen.

apoppetonastring · 16/12/2017 15:15

Don't like Sienna. Reminds me of something you take to make you shit. Blush

BlazingPaddles · 16/12/2017 15:15

It's not even that unusual a name these days. Look how much it's shot up in popularity

I love it! I have a friend called Nancy and she's lovely, so i'm biased.

Re{ Swallows and Amazons - if you'd chosen to call her "Titty" now . . . . Hmm

apoppetonastring · 16/12/2017 15:15

Do people never learn. NEVER tell people the name you are going to give your baby.

NEVER!

category12 · 16/12/2017 15:15

Sienna Nancy would be a strange combination. Or vice versa. I wouldn't keep discussing names with people, next thing you know someone will have 'stolen' it.

itusedtobeverydifferent · 16/12/2017 15:15

It's a lovely name

flyingtnx · 16/12/2017 15:16

We also aren’t finding out gender until birth so as I see it the baby is nameless until arrival, we don’t have to worry about baby not suiting name and having personalised clothes or anything! I guess it could be a waiting game of if we think the baby suits the name

I went to uni sith a Nancy. She was cool. I like the name.

butterfly990 · 16/12/2017 15:17

The best bet is during pregnancy is to tell anyone who asks that if it a boy its going to be called Aloysius and if its a girl its going to be Dremelda or any other ghastly name you can think of.

Then when the baby is born and it has the lovely name Nancy or Sienna everyone is happy.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 16/12/2017 15:17

It's a family name for us. Makes me think of rather lairy middle aged aunties. Our Nance. Go for it if you like it.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 16/12/2017 15:18

I love it.
Is it short for anything though? In my mind it’s short for something like Peggy is short for Margaret.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 16/12/2017 15:19

Sorry - I loathe it!

Farrar · 16/12/2017 15:20

I love it! It's on my list but I also expect I'll get the same sort of reaction.

We're a family of 'unusual' names so something like Nancy will be called 'old-fashioned'. I also love Ada and no doubt that will meet the same fate too.

What I'd say is - it's your baby, I know it's not nice but if you love it then go for it. There's plenty out there (and here on this very thread) that love it too.

glitterlips1 · 16/12/2017 15:21

Love it. It has a retro classic feel to it. Not that keen on Sienna however, I wouldn't care what others think about the name. I had mixed reactions to my daughters name but now everyone compliments her on it! Go with what you like!

LeonoraFlorence · 16/12/2017 15:22

I love it.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 16/12/2017 15:23

We have a Nancy, she is gorgeous even if I do say so myself:)
