Too American? Assume it's a girl?

Can't make my mind up and dp loves it.

Love it for a boy but we had 2 J names already!!

OliviaTheFox · 14/11/2017 08:42

I think Breaking Bad.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 08:45

I think breaking bad too 😫😂

If I hear it I think girl. Seeing it written like that I'd think boy.

RJnomore1 · 14/11/2017 08:46

I hear that song by joshua whatsisname

It's a nice song

ProfessorPickles · 14/11/2017 08:46

I thought Jesse Pinkman too!
However, if you love it get it used. You’ll start associating it with your child in no time and so will everyone else Smile

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 08:59

Dp really likes it and it goes well with his last name, I just can't get the 'oh I thought it was a girls name' out my head! It makes me think of cowboys!
Maybe I'll come round on it haha!

The only Jessie's I know re male and in their teens and twenty's now.

notacooldad · 14/11/2017 09:03

I'm going to have Rick Springfield's 'Jessie's girl' in my head all day now!

SummerRoberts · 14/11/2017 09:04

It’s my DP’s favourite boys name. I really really like it. Definitely a boy. And it also makes me think Breaking Bad!

Gingernaut · 14/11/2017 09:07

Sorry. No help at all. Blush

pipilangstrumpf · 14/11/2017 09:07

I know a Jessica nicknamed Jess or Jessy. So girl for me.

user1499786242 · 14/11/2017 09:10

Love the name Jesse for a boy but we have a close friend who used it for her little boy
Think it's an amazing name!

fleshmarketclose · 14/11/2017 09:11

I love it so would assume boy but I wouldn't use it around here as it's used as a mild rebuke when you have done something stupid "What a Jesse!", "You Jesse!" etc

OliviaTheFox · 14/11/2017 09:12

Also I feel like it’s a nickname not a full name. Even tho I do like it.

Fekko · 14/11/2017 09:14

'Ya big Jessie' I'm from Scotland, if that adds any perspective.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 09:15

I'm surprised it's getting such a positive reaction, I was expecting a much more negative view on it.

I might come round to it. I do like it, I just find it to be a bit more on the 'unusual' side for where we are. I don't know any Jesses at all!

I love Jesse for a boy! It would be on my list for dc2, due in January, but like the op, my Dh thinks of it as a girl name and has vetoed Sad.

hangingkebab · 14/11/2017 09:23

I like it, it makes me think of cowboys.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 09:50

Bernard I'm due February! We have no short list, despite know since September we were having a boy!
Dp has what I would an usual taste in names whereas I prefer more classic, traditional ones! 😂

Ah cool! See you on the labour ward Wink!

MyWhatICallNameChange · 14/11/2017 09:55

I know a couple of boy Jesse's and a few girl Jessie's (short for Jessica) so it's not wildly unusual.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 10:19

I know lots of Jessica's with all the nicknames that go with it, just no Jesse's! Luckily we aren't in Scotland so it's not really an insult round here haha.

Jesse sounds like a cute nickname for Jessica - Jess, Jessie.

It doesn’t sound masculine to my ears

MyBootsAreMuddy · 14/11/2017 10:33

I think surfer dude with floppy hair. I'm kiwi and know a couple of kiwi/ausie guys called Jesse and they all have floppy shoulderish length hair.
