I think of a cool boy. It is quite American.

I don't think of a girl, because the Jessicas I know are all 'Jess'.

LilQueenie · 14/11/2017 18:05

I think of a boy and also the Cher song Jesse James. I also love it.

oldlaundbooth · 14/11/2017 18:06

I assume it's American and the dude out of nashville

elQuintoConyo · 14/11/2017 18:08

I think Pinkman and rub my thighs Grin

Oysterbabe · 14/11/2017 18:10

I love it. The only Jesse I know is a very hot Welshman.

DullAndOld · 14/11/2017 18:12

i would think it was for a boy if it was spelt Jesse, and u had a boy....

Would think it a girl if u had a girl and named her Jessica , Jessie for short.

wizzywig · 14/11/2017 18:13

The cher song

Notsooriginalwerther · 14/11/2017 18:15

I thought boy initially, especially with the spelling and the first face I put to the name was pinkman 😂

All the Jessica’s I know are all jess for short so I didn’t but go straight to ‘girl’.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 18:16

Well it seems to be quite popular as a choice for boys! It's growing on me. And it's definitely J-e-s-s-e, like the cowboy, that it would be spelled. Haha.

I like Jesse.

My first thought is Jesse from home and away, so I think if it as more Aussie than American.

Similar names, imo, are:

Jed
Zac
Taylor
Sonny

pipilangstrumpf · 14/11/2017 20:22

I know a few young Jessicas that are known as Jessie.

Yika · 14/11/2017 20:49

I love it, I think of it as a Biblical name.

Joeybee · 14/11/2017 22:24

To me I imagine a young American boy playing baseball!

Shockers · 14/11/2017 22:29

Jessie is my 95 year old Grandmother’s name. Its not short for anything else.

Jesse for a boy sounds very American to me.

BelafonteRavenclaw · 14/11/2017 22:34

Like it

It reminds me of the song Dear Jessie by Madonna, a childhood favourite.

fartyghost · 14/11/2017 22:41

Jesse James , the American outlaw, bank and train robber.
Listen to this song about him m.youtube.com/watch?v=O9RKP0pu9hY

DeadDoorpost · 14/11/2017 22:43

See, I think of Jessie from Pokemon's Team Rocket exposes my obsession

dementedma · 14/11/2017 22:49

Ya big Jessie is an insult here in Scotland. Boy would be teased

holdbackonthewine · 14/11/2017 22:59

I think immediately of the black male Olympic athlete Jesse Owens who Hitler hated to see win in the 1936 Olympics so, for me, it’s definitely male and heroic to boot.

Grimmfebruary · 14/11/2017 23:01

Well I'm not in Scotland so that's fine...

icantgetnosleep5 · 15/11/2017 07:34

I know you don't live in Scotland, but tht dsnt mean that you want to rule out somewhere that ur son can live in the future , everyone would laugh in his face ! No Scottish woman would marry a Jesse either !

icantgetnosleep5 · 15/11/2017 07:35

Kids move all over the place, and Edinburgh is a highly ranked uni, I was brought up in wales but have ended up living in Scotland twice , it happens!

Grimmfebruary · 15/11/2017 07:53

Not disputing that but for the immediate future I think he'd be fine 😂

Really like it.

Laid back, unusual but familiar to most people, quite cool.

Something quite rufty-tufty about it too. Surfer dude/lumberjack/easy-going farmhand types might be called Jesse.
